Then and now

You may remember this picture from earlier this year. I showed it before Mothers day when I shared some gifts my kids had given me when they were young.
These earring were made by Laura when she was 9.
When I did this post, I got a comment from Jenny of I'm Having a Thought Here. She was concerned about Laura's artistic talent, suggesting that maybe Andy had gotten more of it in the gene pool. I had to e-mail her back and tell her that Laura had started making jewelry - and she did a good job!
She asked that I share a few pictures, so I'm finally getting around to it.
Here you go Jenny!

I think she's improved, don't you?

Beautiful!!
Who wouldn't love those beautiful baubles and the gorgeous colors. Aren't you the lucky one to have a daughter to keep you in "pretties"!

Well shut my mouth. Those are gorgeous.

I love them all but especially that last piece. And come to look at that squarish pair of earrings at the top, I had me some a lot like that in the early '90s!!!

Plus which, my daughter Erica would look sooo cute in those green flowery earrings!

Laura's really got something going here. I do believe ALL of your children inherited the creative-on-kryptonite gene!

Those are such gorgeous pieces. I love how you encouraged her talents and gifts from when she was little.

Oh my gosh....these are incredible!!! Now...I would say they BOTH have artistic genes that are working overtime. Beautiful work.

My post for today: Fact or Fiction...you decide.

Thanks for the visit yesterday...your comments are always treasured!

very much so! does she have an etsy shop?

as for the first set of earrings - they look like they'd be all the rage for the 80s!!

Laura's talent showed up when she was young. She brought in the "chunky" look before it was discovered. She was waaaay ahead of the game.

Beautiful!! I always look at all the things at Michaels for making your own jewelry and wish I knew how to do it.

I just caught up with your blog after this busy week of VBS and Destiny being here. That book looks wonderful. I needed it many times in my life. And those ducklings are adorable.

Love all of the pieces, but the last one is soooooo cool. She does a great job. Does she sell her stuff. I work with a few girls that make their stuff and we get to buy it from them...love that!

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope I'm able to comment!
This girl has talent! I always look at all the beautiful beads for making your own jewelry, wish I knew how and had an ounce of ambition to learn..but I don't!
I love all the pieces, but that last piece is the one that really caught my eye! BEAUTIFUL!

She does have talent. My favorite piece is the yellow earrings at the top. These are beautiful. Wow she really has come along but I still think her 9 year old project was good for a 9 year old.

I remember when my mom made those big earrings and sold them. They were very popular!

I like the new stuff better though.
