Today I have a tip for you that I heard on the radio. They were talking about ways to save up a little money. One of the DJ's had heard this tip recently and was trying it. The idea is to never spend a $5 bill, but to put it away and save it. $5 isn't a lot to put away but it does add up. The hardest thing is to consistently do it and not to dip into your stash. When I heard this idea I decided to try it and will use it for Christmas gifts. I haven't saved a huge amount of money, but it's more than I started with!

That would work if I ever actually had cash....I never have any money....I write checks for everything!!!
That is how we have totally paid for our last 3 vacations - to Disney and to Washington DC this year and to Chattanooga last year. It's a lot easier than you think.

What a great idea. It's late for this year's Christmas gifts, but if we save all year next year we should have a nice amount to have a great Christmas shopping spree. We may even have money left over. Five dollars would sure add up over a one year time frame. Thanks for sharing.

That is a good tip! I am getting convicted about not giving to the poor. Our church takes an offering every month and we give to it, but it seems like such a small amount compared to what we have. Maybe if I did this along with the other, and give elsewhere, I would feel better. The poor our church gives to are people who come and ask for help, which is fine. But there are people in other countries who have absolutely nothing. This whole thing has been bothering me lately.
Great idea ! My problem with it though is that I RARELY carry cash !! So ... I rarely spent $5 bills !!

I love this idea, and I'm going to put it to work. It seems like I never have a $5 bill on me, but I will make it a point when I do to put it away. We throw all our change every evening into a container and when it's full we cash it in for some sort of treat...even that adds up before you know it, but the $5 idea is much better!

That's how I paid for our vacation over a year ago. I kept putting $20 to the side now and then. My husband was shocked when I brought the money out for our vacation.
Charlie's check is direct deposited so we never have cash. Sometimes he shows up with change..not sure how...and we put that into a change jar. It adds up pretty quickly.

Good idea! We are doing a lot of handmade things this year so even $5 a week for the nest month would probably make us several gifts.

We have a huge glass jar it is about 2 ft tall that we throw our change in but the bottom is barely covered. I like the 5 dollar thing better it will add up faster.
