Time for a wedding!

You may remember a few months ago, a post I did about a bridal shower we had for my niece, Shaelyn.  This weekend, she got married!

Bob and I were host and hostess (or master and mistress of ceremonies), so we spent much of the day at the venue and I have some photos to share with you. It was an absolutely beautiful day in West Michigan, the sun was shining, and the temperature was 57, so we were ok being outside for the wedding.

This is the barn, where the reception would be held.

The back of the property, with a fire pit that was lit in the evening.

Sun shining through the grasses on the property.

Inside the barn after we got it ready for the reception.  You can see Bob on the right side, looking dapper. (He was a little nervous as he had to do all the announcing at the reception, but he did great!)

The ceremony site, ready for people to arrive.

They had this beautiful arch, with doors that closed.  The doors were opened to reveal the bride just before she walked down.
We stood back there to direct everyone down the aisle, so I was able to get this photo of Shaelyn and Dave as they walked down the aisle.

Here's Shaelyn with my sister Terri and her husband Dave.

Me, Terri and Shaelyn

The bride and groom!

They did something fun between the ceremony and the reception.  They weren't having any alcohol, instead they had an Italian soda bar, which the grooms sister and a few groomsmen helped with.  It was fun and everyone liked it!

A memory candle lit for grandparents who are no longer with us. Instead of a guest book, they had a Bible where guests could highlight a favorite verse and sign next to it.

Here's people enjoying the Italian Ice's.

And people enjoying the reception.

Here's Laura and Heather and their families.  The girls were excited to go to a wedding.

Connor was not as excited, but was sleeping during the reception.

Soon it was time to send them off, running through sparklers!
It was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding!

Hi Mari! Great pictures of a beautiful event! I love the setting! I also love the idea of signing Bible verses instead of a guest book. I also love the idea of an Italian soda bar. What a nice wedding. So glad that your niece and her husband are starting off their lives together right - with God as the third person in the relationship!

Thank you so much for sharing all these wonderful photos! Such a pretty wedding and venue. You could not have asked for better weather, too. What cute ideas (the soda bar). The adorable families. The barn, the bible, everything just wonderful. What a perfect start to the rest of their lives!

What a beautiful wonderful wedding. Congratulations to the happy couple. Both of my nephews had barn weddings. It must be the rage now. I like the idea of Italian sodas. My one nephew did smores around a huge campfire. Glad the weather cooperated for them to have their outside wedding. One never knows around here what the weather will be like. You and Bob am sure did an amazing job as well. Janice

What a very special wedding this was, Mari. I loved the fact that they lit the memory candle...made me think of your dad. And that they used the Bible instead of a guest book! What a treasure, especially when they will read the verses that have been highlighted or underlined. Everything was just beautiful...and you and Bob looked GREAT!

Oh my - I love weddings. The bride was beautiful - cute couple - I am shorter than my hubs too. It looked like a wonderful Christian wedding - I love the idea of the people signing by their favorite verse. The venue was awesome. And that was really sweet of you and hubs hosting! Beautiful.

Hi Mari, I really like the ideas they had for their wedding like the Italian soda bar and having the sparklers to send them on their way. Thanks for the great photos. I also like that was room in the barn at the reception to easily move around. Sometimes the rooms for receptions are too small and hard to walk around in for the number of people attending.

Such a beautiful wedding! What a lovely bride and handsome groom, and a perfect venue! I love the Italian Ice soda bar idea. I wish they had done that at the wedding we attending this weekend...just saying. And I wish they had a barn for the reception instead of being outside in the rain...LOL. but it was still beautiful. It looks like you had a really lovely wedding! Loved seeing the family and little Connor sleeping his way through it all! Happy Wedding Times!! Congratulations to the Bride and Groom!

What a lovely day that was! It looked like lots of fun and I love the Italian Ice bar. We love to make iced coffee and also Italian Ice. Years ago my friends Sandy would show me the secret to making a perfect Italian Ice. She said it was in the wrist when you stirred the drink! I hope the happy couple has many years of a wonderful marriage/ They certainly had a perfect wedding day. Thanks for sharing them with us.
