Acorns keep falling!

We have a lot of trees around our house, and most of them are oak trees. That means we get lots of acorns falling in our yard.  We've lived in this house for over 30 years, and we think this year tops all for the amount of acorns falling.

Here's one of the initial clean up piles. There's a few leaves on top but mostly acorns.  This time Bob hauled away 7 wheel barrows full from our front yard.

Not only are there lots of them, but they are so noisy this year.  It sounds like someone is throwing them against the house or the roof.
I got a video of the noise, but I can't get it uploaded here.  When the girls stayed overnight last weekend, they said it woke them up during the night.

Here, you can see all the acorns in the landscaping.

This is the drive to Bob's workshop.  No acorns have been cleaned up here, and look at them all.  This week, Bob cleared out another 11 wheel barrows full.

Looking up into the oak trees.  There's more acorns up there, but we do see an end in sight.  At least when the leaves come down, they are quiet!

Good grief!! I didn't even know there could be this many in one place. You must have tons of squirrels and chipmunks!

Youzers that is a lot of acorns. Did not realize the girls did not even put a dent in their acorn collection. Those are some mighty mighty oaks to produce that many acorns...unless we are going to have a bad Winter and wanted to make sure the animals had enough to keep them through it. Janice

I think you have an abundance of acorns, my friend. Here there are very few, so I think the squirrels are going to have a rough winter this year.

WOW! I don't think I've ever seen that many all together. That many wheel barrels full of them,, crazy. I wonder if that means it's going to be a bad winter? Do you have animals around trying to eat all these or bury them for later? Sounds like lots of work.

Good golly, that's a bunch of acorns!! Too bad there is no market for them...you could be rich!! We had live oaks in our yard at our old house. They didn't drop many acorns, just the leaves. The wildlife who eat them should be quite happy with their haul!!

My sister-in-law in SC has a lot of oak trees and the acorns are all down her driveway. They can be really slippery if you are not careful!

That's amazing...I have never seen that many in one place. A whole lot of work by the wheelbarrow full.
Whew, I'm tired just seeing your photos.

As beautiful as they are, the Live Oak trees here in my area are a nuisance. It does not help that our builder (years ago) planted them between the street and sidewalk so by they time the trees are big, the roots are pushing up the sidewalks and starting to buckle the street asphalt. Also, the trees were usually planted in a straight line with the utility boxes, so that is a concern when having the trees removed (which many of us have had to do). But with all that said, I love to ride my bicycle tires over the acorns in the street because they make nice popping sound.

Oh my goodness...that is a LOT of acorns....does this mean a heavy winter? so all of the deer will have plenty to eat? our backyard has always been covered with them, but we had to have those two big trees cut down, due to the snowmagadon that Texas had a few years ago.

You've had lots of acorn bumper crops in recent years! I know that sound. I always say it sounds like giant squirrels are in the branches of the white oak over the house, throwing giant acorns at our roof as hard as they can, hahaha! It's scary. xoxo

Wow!! That is nuts!! No pun intended. I live in an area where the oak trees are prevalent and I've never seen that many acorns. Ever!! I see a lot of crafting opportunities though!! Haha...
