Here's what we did on our last day "up north". In Michigan, Up North is a relative term. There's the lower peninsula and the upper peninsula. We live about 1/3 of the way up from the southern border of the state, so when we say up north, it could mean the upper half of the state, or it could mean way up north in the upper peninsula. On this trip, we didn't cross the bridge to the U.P., although we do love it up there.
We left Traverse City a little before 9 am, but wanted to make a few stops on the way home. Michigan has more lighthouses than any other state and we love to visit them. We stopped at 2 of them as we traveled home.
The first was the Little Au Sable Lighthouse in Pentwater.
Our next stop was the White River Light House in Whitehall.
We got home around 3. We had such a good time, but it's always good to be home again!

Beautiful sites
I agree with Miss Merry - it was again beautiful photos - you were so lucky to see all that. Did you get to climb up the lighthouse? Glad you got home safely.
Very cool shots. The blue sky is stunning as well. Happy new week.
White River Lighthouse is beautiful! Is anyone living in the house? It all looks well kept up. Your photo of the waves is beautiful!
A wonderful sight for me, being born in Connecticut, there were light houses galore. Nothing much better than a lighthouse and the ocean's roar...

I love lighthouses I slept in one when I went for a trip to Scotland with my son. Beautiful places!
The sky looks so crystal blue. Lovely photos.
Your picture of the waves coming in is so peaceful. Watching waves come in and hearing their gentle lapping is one of the most peaceful sounds in all the world to me.
I love lighthouses too and it's always on our list of things to do when we go to Maine.
Glad you had a great time.
Lovely photos again.... and I actually read 'up North' in a Yorkshire accent... 'oop Narth'
Thanks for sharing Mari... and have a good week.. x
I love seeing the lighthouses! They are really unique and so picturesque! Such wonderful scenery in that part of the state! Thank you for sharing it all with us. I never made it to that part of the state when we lived in Troy many years ago. We weren't there long enough to do much exploring I guess. Too busy working at our church and raising our teen boys at the time. It would be nice to go back someday and see the sights! Beautiful photos!
Love seeing the lighthouses.
You sure had a great time away!!
I read your comment on IG and I guess I didn't realize where you lived! lol We loved Michigan and Mackinac Island. Beautiful scenery and I loved the weather.
I have seen that first lighthouse. It sure was a tall one. We have several on our side of the state too. In fact one tight in the town our store is in. Janice
These photos are glorious! The blue skies with those lighthouses are breathtaking. Frameworthy! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful travels. I look forward to a MI trip plan for Matt and I in the future. 💙
Lovely photographs.
I've always liked lighthouses, that one looks so tall!
All the best Jan
Fabulous scenery and such gorgeous weather! I love expeditions but equally love seeing my own home again after being away. This trip was a great success and the next one will be too, hahaha xoxo
I love lighthouses. I've always thought I'd like to live in one on a island. So romantic!
Michigan is beautiful... if it just didn't get so cold and snowy!! It is always fun to see lighthouses. Bygone days. You had such a sweet get-away!! xo
