We're home from our getaway and I'll tell you more about that tomorrow, but Fall is now officially here. That means our flowers are rapidly fading, things are starting to look kind of dry and brown. However, a few things are getting a little Fall color. Before it's all gone, I thought I'd show you what the yard is looking like right now.
On the side of the garage, these hosta are getting a little bedraggled and yellow.
This is our hydrangea tree and it's loaded with big flowers this year. The leaves are starting to change.
This is one of the blooms. They turn from kind of a lime green to a antique rose color, and will often hang on through the winter.
Here's part of our back yard. You can see there's still a little color back there!
The purple you saw in the yard shot is this plant. It's call Fall crocus. It comes up with green shoots in the Spring and then dies back. We see nothing all Summer, then all of a sudden these purple flowers pop up and give a splash of color for the Fall.
Our roses started blooming again! They took a short break, but look at those flowers.
The purple phlox are nearly gone.
The flowers may be going away, but the acorns are increasing! This is a picture Bob took on the drive to his woodshop. Look at all those acorns! They are falling from our oak trees like crazy. Sometimes we think the squirrels are throwing them at our house, because they hit so hard. It looks like the acorn harvest will be plentiful and the squirrels will be happy. And on that note - Welcome Fall!

Some of your beautiful plants, I haven’t heard of or they don’t grow here. Like the Hydrangeas tree. How pretty that is. Love the wildflower garden! Your yard still looks nice to me - very green. Funny about the acorns and squirrels. 🐿️

Looks like some of them are still holding on well. Love that hydrangea bush! I had to laugh because our oak is letting off acorns like crazy and I actually DID have a little squirrel in the tree above our patio throwing them down on me the other day. Haha!
Your yard is so gorgeous! And the ornamental gate is something I have always loved, ever since you first showed it. Fall CROCUS!? Amazing, I have never heard of such a thing. It is gorgeous, and looks quite a bit larger than the spring Crocus. The light pink Hydrangea looks Victorian to me. The pink Sedum is divine!

Such pretty flowers. I bet I wouldn't get many of them looked at... I'd be sitting on that bench just enjoying my surroundings.
Oh you know how much I love seeing all things Fall! Even the flowers that fade and get bedegraggled are so lovely. I love the smell of spicy woods in Autumn too. Even though it means things are kind of decaying - it has it's own wonderful Fall smell. And how's about those glorious roses!! Love them 💛 Happy Fall to you dear Mari!!! 🍁❌⭕️
I have always loved that gate to your backyard. Did Bob make that? SO pretty.
That fall crocus is absolutely gorgeous. I'm going to ask Carroll about us having some next year. I love how you see nothing but green during the spring/summer, but then you have that beautiful pop of color in the fall.
Yellow roses were my mother's favorite rose. Yours are lovely.
We are noticing a good many acorns this year also.

I love your wooded area and like to do that on our property too. I have made lots of trails but nothing as nice as yours.
You do have a beautiful yard, and so many lovely flowers. Thank you for the tour! (I always get sad when I know my flowers are going to die...then all the leaves blow off the trees and it's so ominous...winter is coming, nothing we can do about it...I do love fall, but...not when it gets all dark and naked.)

Your yard is simply beautiful! I especially love the wooded area with the bench and the paths. You have so many pretty flowers. Glad you did take pictures before the cold changes everything.
We don't have much fall color here -- the only way you can tell is by the red leaves of the dogwood trees -- but it's still awfully hot. And the coneflowers still tug at my heart. But your roses! Their last gasp is pretty stunning. Winter is coming ... prepare to batten down the hatches, hahaha! xoxo

I recognized those little blue wildflowers and the white, lacy looking ones too that Bob planted. I had the same ones growing in my pots on the balcony this summer.
Your yard is beautiful. The purple colour flowers are amazing.for the moment we only have some last roses and asters. The trees are beginning to lose leaves.
I once was pounded by acorns when I happened to be under an oak tree. Not fun. LOL Your September blooms are fantastic! Still so pretty. Janice
Your fall garden is very vibrant, ours has mostly faded. Hopefully my mums will bloom soon! Oh and acorns, that's so funny, we say the same thing about the squirrels!!
