Weekend Fun

It was a nice weekend here with some unusual activities going on!
Here's a few photos of what we did.

First I have to show you this cute little pillow that came in the mail Friday.  It came from my friend Janice who blogs at Prims By The Water. Janice shares lots of primitive decorating things and beautiful counted cross stitch projects.  She has a store where she sells items, many of which she makes, like this flag.  I was thrilled to get this and am proud to display it! Things like this are extra special because every time I see it, I will think of Janice.

Shortly after I got home Friday, Laura, Aaron and girls came over for supper.  The girls were spending the night, and Laura and Aaron were helping Bob with a big dig!

We're having an egress window installed in a bedroom downstairs.  A 5 foot hole had to be dug in preparation. Bob had started this earlier, and Laura and Aaron had come another night to dig.  At this point, it was about 3 1/2 feet deep. Here's Bob and Aaron getting started on this night.

At some point, Laura changed placed with Bob and starting digging too.

The girls were having fun playing in the backyard and occasionally checking on the progress.

They agreed to pose for a picture on the bench.

The hole is getting deeper!

And after lots of hard work, it's 5 feet deep!  Now we are praying we don't get any big rain storms before the company comes to install the window on Wednesday, so the dirt doesn't wash back in.

When we were done, we found the girls playing a game on the porch.
Laura and Aaron went home to shower after all that hot work.  We were so appreciative of all their help!
We took Alaina and Ruby out for ice cream and had a fun night and more fun on Saturday.

It's nice that you had some help with your big digging project and you got to spend time with your grandchildren! You will have to post pictures of your new window. A lot of older houses around here are doing the same thing. I hope your week is going well! See you again soon.

That is a BIG hole!! Wow. Basement bedrooms are safer with an exit option so it's a good thing. Makes the entire basement safer too. Can't wait to see how it all turns out!! The girls are beautiful young ladies. I'm glad the kids came to help Bob get it done. Have a blessed day, Mari... and no rain!!

That, my friend, was a LOT of digging! Loved the fact that your daughter and son-in-law came to help with it.

Your grandgirlies are growing up so fast. Such lovely young ladies.

The photo of the girls on the bench is so cute. They are adorable. Maybe print that one and frame it!? It's worth having around.
I've wondered what those windows were called. I learned something new.
When I was younger I could dig and work like that. I do miss being able to actually do almost anything that needed doing. *sigh*
Hope y'all have a lovely day and the window installation goes well! 💙

Most homes in California not have basements due to earthquakes so I had to look up what kind of window that was. Interesting. I remember all my relatives back east had basements. They would be nice to have - extra storage and room. But not so good when the “big one” hits!

My goodness that's a huge hole.It is not an easy job. My husband has had to dig many holes around here over the years and I'm always in awe of how difficult it is. Have you ever seen the comedian Nate Bargatze do his bit about digging a hole for a pond for his mom? It's hysterical, very true and every time someone mentions they need to dig a hole this comes to mind..funny stuff.

Lucky you for wining that sweet pillow.
That is quite a job to dig that out but it is a good idea.

the remnants of hurricane Beryl is headed our way and we are expected to receive 2-3 inches of rain. UGH I hope you get your window it before it rains too. Thank you for mentioning my blog, and like I said before it looked good next to your red star! Janice

That's a big hole they are digging! It will be interesting to see the whole project when it is done! How nice to have such good helpers! And what fun to have the girls there enjoying time outdoors and playing games and spending the night with you! what a joy that must be for all of you! Happy Summer days!

What a big project!! I'm so eager to see the window. I think that's what Josh and jill did to Grandpa Stauffer's basement. I noticed when I was down there the other Sunday that there was a much bigger window, which made it seem so much more daylight down there. I might have taken a picture of it.

Oh my that primitive pillow is everything. I must check out Janice's blog! And blow me down, your Laura is nothing if not intrepid! What a woman. I am interested to see how that looks when it's all done and YES LORD please keep the rain away! I've saved that precious picture of Ruby and Alaina to my file xoxo
