The War Room

Did you see the movie 'The War Room'?  It was released in 2015 and the premise was a family that seemed to have it all, but in actuality their marriage was failing.  The wife meets Miss Clara, an older woman who shows her how to fight for her family using prayer, and introduces the idea of a war room.  The war room is a closet or small room that you use to pray in, and also to tack up prayer requests.  If you haven't seen it, it's excellent!
Anyway, all that is just to show you something our church did.  You may remember that we recently moved into our new building, which is classrooms and offices.  We've also been talking about the importance of prayer.  There was a space inside that was being used as a sign in spot for Children's Ministry.  Our leadership decided to close it in, making it a very small room - perfect for a war room.
Here's what it looks like.

The sign over the door says "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still."  Exodus 14:14

The walls have corkboard on them, so people can tack up prayer requests or verses...

I think this is a great addition to our building and I hope many people are blessed by their time here.

I haven't heard of the film either. I love the room although I think some people may find it claustrophobic, unless it has a window!

I have yet to see the movie, but it is on my shopping list for today, Mari. I love it that your church has taken it seriously and made a space for people to be able to go to and pray and also share the requests. The corkboard walls are amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this, Mari.

We have that movie and have watched it a couple of times. We like to show movies to guests when they are interested and they like this one for sure. I think it is great that your church has built a War Room. This keeps prayer in the forefront of the minds of the church people who might not otherwise pray. I think it is a good thing!
