Grand Rapids Favorite son

I have some pictures I took this Fall that I meant to share with you and forgot. So - here they are a few months late!

Grand Rapids is the birthplace of our 36th president, Gerald Ford. He lived here and served as a Representative from this district until he was appointed Vice-president in 1973.
He and Betty were well loved here, and when both of them died, the streets were lined with citizens as the motorcade made its way through the city. His family came out and talked to many of the people who stood in line to pay respects.
I thought I would share a few pictures of their final resting place.

This is the Ford Presidential Museum.

As you walk along the side of the museum, you will come to the spot where the Ford's are buried. It's open to the public.

There is nothing fancy in this spot, just a quiet place to pay your respects.

A little closer shot of the words.

This is what it looks like, looking back.

This is a wonderful and tastefully simple memorial, and the first photo shows a beautiful line of trees. Thanks for showing this.

The museum is right across the river from the Amway Grand where we stayed last year. Grand Rapids is so nice...a lovely place to live, and what a beautiful memorial to the Fords.

What a great post!

I love the picture with the reflection of leaves on the windows of the museum. Man, you sure do get at places at the right time for wonderful shots!

Mari, the pictures you shared here are so precious. I know Gerald Ford was among your country's most loved presidents.

The graves are simple, yet beautiful in their simplicity.

Thanks for taking time to share.
