A day at the Campground

My sister Terri was camping last week and invited me to come spend my day off with her.
This campground is on the beach of Lake Michigan between Holland and Grand Haven. It was a beautiful, sunny day. Heather had the day off and came with me. Here are a few pictures of our walk to the beach.

This area overlooks the beach. On the day we were there, they were setting up chairs and an arch for a wedding that would be happening that night. It's such a beautiful setting for a wedding!

I took this from the big deck at the top of the hill. Blue water, blue sky and sunshine!

I took this from the stairs going down to the beach. Love that dune grass!

They have this fence in places along the dunes to stop erosion. This one has seen better days, but I love the weathered look.

Heather and Terri's daughters spent several hours on the beach, and Heather got quite burned in spite of putting sunscreen on. Terri and I sat in the shade and talked, so I got no tan, but I'm not burned either! It was a nice relaxing day - thanks Terri!

The first picture is so pretty. When I think of the Great Lakes, I never think of sunbathing but I guess it does get warm enough for that. Ha! Ha! When I was ever near the lakes, it must have been early spring so I always think "cold" when I think of them.

I hope the girls get over their sunburns. Maybe they got wind burns.

I like the weathered look too. There's something beautiful about it....like it has a story to tell!

The pictures are really great! Glad you had time to relax and enjoy.

That place looks very familiar. We go there Saturday evenings sometimes for dinner and the program.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out what that gorgeous campground is between Grand Haven and Holland...and all I can come up with is Camp Geneva. Am I right? I didn't realize you could camp there though. My kids all went there when they were growing up and one of my daughters was a camp couselor there....so, where were you?

Can't wait to hit the beach area at the end of the month with our kids. I keep telling Dave to take me later in the day just to walk the board walk. I love doing that in GH.

It was fun - in spite of the fact that Heather got burned! I love our campground!

So, didn't know the Great Lakes had such nice beaches. I'll add that to my Bucket List. I like the photo taken on the stairs.

Mari, what a beautiful place to camp! Our camping club went camping this past weekend at the beach also but it was so cold and windy. Here in CA, June and July are not the best beach months. August and Sept are better.

Glad you had such a nice, relaxing day off!

What a beautiful day and a beautiful spot! We've got to go there one day soon. I hope that Heather didn't burn as bad as Ashley did a few weeks ago. It ended up being 2nd degree burns on her shoulders. Blisters and everything. Once everything healed, her skin in pink like it's sunburned still, I think because it's the new skin. We're just keeping it completely covered and not even exposing it at all the rest of the year.

Have you been hot this year too? We've had some 90's even, but I know you're closer to the water, at least it's on the west so the wind comes off of it. Our water is on the east side so we don't really get that cooling effect. Just curious.

The photos made me a little homesick for Michigan! One of my favorite places in the WHOLE WORLD is Ludington, a little farther north from where you were. That whole coastline is gorgeous though. *sigh*

I'm homesick for MI, too! While working at a camp in the Kalamazoo area, we frequently get away to the South Haven area. I LOVE the beaches of Lake Michigan! What a beautiful day you had.
