A walk in the park

Yesterday, Bob and I went to a nearby park to have a picnic lunch and a little hike after church.  We love this park and try to go walking there several times when the weather is nice.  Yesterday was the first trip for this season.  It was very cool and windy when we started, but soon the sun came out and the afternoon was nice.  It was wonderful to see the leaves opening, and green popping up all over!

Popping open!

The woods look so pretty with the light green leaves opening.

There were little pops of moss all over.

 Tall pine trees!

This huge beech tree is one of our favorite spots.  You can't see the size of it in a picture, but it is truly majestic!

It overlooks a deep ravine with a creek running through it.

More moss - on a fallen tree this time.

This was once a huge tree.  We've stopped by it for years, when it was still standing.  I have a picture of Bob standing inside it from several years ago.  It must have fallen sometime this winter.

This pretty little stream meanders all through the park.

 The wild trillium were blooming!

Another tree falling down.  Aren't the roots cool?

Another favorite - the ferns are starting to open!

These are tiny little pinecones!

Isn't God's creation beautiful?

Hi Mari, I know how much you have longed for some Spring color and warmer temps. This is a lovely spot for your walk/picnic. The moss is so pretty and green.I like the wild trillium too. Our area had a lot of trees to come down in the past year. Always sad to lose them. Wishing you a blessed day.

Yes it is.

Well I'm glad Bob wasn't standing inside the tree when it fell down! I always think it's sad seeing trees that have fallen down. Showing that even nature has a life cycle.

Lovely shots.

I love it when it first 'greens out' in the spring....it almost revives us from the winter blahs. Glad you got to enjoy the walk in the park.

I guess you know I have a phobia of a tree falling on me, haaaahaha ... whatever. TG just laughs at me too. I love the nature in your area. The fiddlehead ferns are adorable. xoxo

What a nice place to take a walk! We have a park near us with a trail that goes alongside a river and it's one of my favorite places to walk or bike ride.

Amen - God is so good! And makes such pretty stuff. ;) Beautiful pics Mari. We're finally greening up around here and having some blooming too. Love it! xo

The moss and fiddlehead ferns are lovely. Storms must have passed over this wooded area and taken down your trees. I am glad that Bob was not standing in it at the time.
