It's been very dry here, every storm predicted seems to disappear over Lake Michigan or go to the north of us, so we were very happy to have rain Friday night, Saturday and Saturday night.
Friday evening Bob and I went out for supper, then stopped at his Mom and step-dad's to bring a Fathers Day gift over. After that we went to Laura and Aaron's and picked up the girls.
When we got home, we spent a little time in the yard. The sun was getting a little low in the sky which provides such a pretty soft light.
The roses on our arbor are just loaded with flowers.
Here's that pretty light I was talking about!
We picked up some poppy plants at a roadside stand. They weren't open so we had no idea what color we were getting. However, they were only 50 cents a pot, so we picked some up. So far we have this orange, a red, some yellow and some creamy white. All very pretty!
While I was admiring flowers, the girls were playing on the swing.
And Ruby was climbing into the play fort.
These are lilies that Bob ordered from a catalog several years ago. They were supposed to be carpet lilies - lots of blooms, 8 inches tall. They are very pretty and do have lots of blooms. However:
You can see they are much taller than 8 inches!
After we went inside, Ruby snuggled with her bunny...
Then both girls snuggled with Grandpa!
Hope you all had a nice Father's Day. We had celebrated with our kids last Sunday, We saw Bob's stepdad on Friday evening, and we had my Dad over for Sunday dinner. I'm blessed by each of these Dads in my life!

These are lovely photos. Your flowers are all pretty and what a great deal you got on the poppies. I love seeing the girls snuggled up with your husband with their cat shirts on. I hope you will have a nice week.
Both your grand babies have grown so big!
Mari!!! I can smell the roses climbing the arbor from here!!!! I know just what you mean about expected rainfall and then poof...the storms move out without leaving a drop. Hopefully we'll get a little rain from the tropical storm that is nearing the gulf now. NO tropical storm, just some rain. lol
Love all the girls' photos. Adorable they are. And the one with grandpa just pulls on the heart strings.
We finally got some nice rain this weekend, too! Everything got a good long drink! Looks like you had a fun weekend and I love your poppies! What a great deal for 50 cents!
It looks like a very nice weekend, Mari. I loved seeing your flowers and the girls (also like flowers :)).
Pretty flowers and pretty little girls. I know they are so much fun when they spend time with you and Bob, and I love seeing them snuggle with him. Hope your week ahead is easy and a good one.
All your garden flowers are to pretty. I especially like the lily because I like lilies. Just wondering......do you think it was reaching for the light? I know that you have a lot of shade in your yard. IDK, reaching from 8 inches to 3 feet is quite a stretch! :)
We had a nice fathers day as well. We finally got some rain here today and we did need it. My plants enjoyed the drink of water.
Such precious photos - and looks like it was a lovely Father's Day weekend. And all of the flowers were beautiful! And wow on those tall lilies!! ;)
Happy week ahead to you Mari my Dear! xoxo
Ahhhh, the golden hour! How I love it. Your flowers are breathtaking! Seriously they stun me. I cannot grow a rose. I love those lilies, even tall. And the poppies, how whimsical and sweet. Those girls are precious and such big kids now. Ruby -- now there's trouble, haaahaha. xoxo
We use our grandkids to photograph benchmarks for our plant growth too! So cute! Those little ones of yours are so beautiful.
Those precious girls!!!! How can we keep these grandchildren little just a bit longer?? I love that picture of Grandpa and the girls.
As always, I LOVE the pictures of your flowers.
Your yard is always so beautiful, but those two little girls are cute beyond any flower!!
