Don't be cruel...

My friend Cheryl, did a post last week where she talked about the poem by T.S. Elliot, in which he states "April is the cruelest month".  Some parts of April are wonderful - like the melting of snow and the arrival of warmth and flowers.  However, I have to agree that at other times it can be cruel, and this year it seems especially true!

After a long, cold winter I was so happy to see the snow melt, the sun shine and the flowers start to bloom.  This past week though, has not been so cheery.  Cold temps, freeze warning and that awful four letter word that starts with S has made its way to Michigan.   It's not bad when compared to January and February, but it's still hard to take once Spring has arrived.

There was a lot of moaning and groaning when snow started to fall.  Staff and residents were not happy to see it arrive!

This little nest was barely built last week when the snow started up.  I haven't seen Mama Robin in it since then so she may have moved elsewhere.
I believe this should be the end of the snow though.  It's still cool, but Sunday has been sunny!

So, April may have it's cruel moments, but when the sun shines, and the flowers start to bloom, I'm happy!

This past week was quite cruel here too, but this weekend felt a bit better. I'm just going to run away for a while and see how things are when I get back. (-:

After a beautiful and warm week last week we are due for cold and in the north of the country snow again this week, it has been so much colder the last two days, at least the sun is out for now! I hope that all will be and stay warm with you very soon! xx

Oh Mari! I am sorry to hear winter has decided to visit your area in the lovely springtime... As the old saying goes, "April Showers Bring May Flowers", and I hope this will be true for you this year!
You can send a little snow this way if you like - here in South Africa our winters are usually mild with only a sprinkling of snow on the highest peaks every so often and right now we would welcome some rain too...:)
Blessings and much love,
Kelly-Anne

Ugh!! I can't even imagine snow in April anymore. That nest looks perfectly made and it's such a shame that it is empty. Maybe another momma bird will move in soon. It would be a shame for all that hard work to go unused. Wishing you sunshine and no more snow!!

At least a snow storm in April won't last for weeks. There's always the promise of a warming up, real soon.

That's too bad that it snowed in your area. I'm wishing you lots of warmer days ahead... :)

Amen to that Mari! I sure prefer the less cruel moments of April, though, of course. ;)

Looks like a great sunny & warmer week ahead here. Hope you'll get the same there neighbor! xoxo

So true about April and this year seems to be cruel everywhere. This past Friday we had a huge rainfall, hail, sun and more rain and hail. It was a weird day. Since then it has been a bit cloudy and rainy even today but the sun is right now peeking through. I hope the Mama robin found a warm home and will return. Your photos are lovely. Have a great week.

Hi Mari! I have been walking around with the worlds coldest hands for two weeks now. This weather is killing me! We had snow last week, and it's been very windy. Brrr...

I'll be so glad when this weekend comes around. It's supposed to get warmer, and it'll be May. Gotta get better in May, right? Maybe you'll even see your Mama Robin again :)
Monday blessings,
Ceil

We had snow this past week as well. Hard to believe! Yesterday it was in the high 60's...last night in the low 30's...today in the high 40's. But summer will be upon us! He promises us that one season will follow the other.

I think it's so funny when people fret about the weather, something we can do absolutely nothing about. It's been gorgeous here -- in the 70s with sunshine (mostly) and yet still folks gripe about that little "nip" in the air ... I say, whaaat? That's what sweet spring cardigans in sherbet colors are for! I love cooler weather though, and am more apt to complain when it's 100 degrees with 99 percent humidity. But that's what air conditioning is for. xoxo

"Awful 4 letter word" it visited us too after we started celebrating spring and it was harsh. But now I guess with +22 today - the first highest temp in the year, that S word probably have no possibility to come again until its turn.

Hi Mari,
It's been way too long since I visited your blog. I ended here for today, and yes, April is cruel. It snowed here several times and we woke to ice on the pond. I'm glad it's May!
