Brrrr!

It's been so cold around here! One day when I was going to work, the thermometer in my car read negative 13. We set several records for coldest days in February and it ended up being the coldest month on record for the West Michigan area.  There were only 2 days when the temperature went above freezing, and the average temperature was 12.  I have to say that I'm really ready for Spring!  And, although winter can be really pretty, everything outdoors almost looks like a black and white photo.  There's not much color to be seen in the winter.
Here's a few pictures I took to show you what I mean.

A field near my house...

I do like the beauty of a lone tree in a field.

This is under a bridge that spans the Grand River near my house.  I had to walk in snow up to my knees to get out there, and did wonder about my sanity at that point!  :)

This is our road, with more snow coming down.

This is a photo my niece Trisha took.  This is Lake Michigan, with lots of ice!  I like the sun and the color in this photo.  Beautiful!
Spring is on it's way though.  I'll be waiting.

Incredible photos. I just don't think I could tolerate your frigid temps.

That bridge photo is really cool! It's the same way here...everything is black and white..until you see a red barn. ha.

I know it's cold but these photos are beautiful!

I think we're all waiting! :)

Our weather (even though we live in FL) has been colder than in several decades earlier. I think it's hit everywhere differently this year.

Beautiful photo's, and I can't believe you walked in that deep snow, but maybe you're used to it? :)

Be careful when you're driving to work!

xoxo

How do you live there? It's 52 degrees here today and I was just wishing it was a bit warmer (until I saw this post). Beautiful pictures!

That is a wonderful shot, under the bridge, Mari. Well worth the effort to get there! I remember, when I was a kid, we would ice skate under the bridge because the ice was so smooth there, protected from the wind. You can't skate on choppy ice!! The lone tree is a good one! Thanks for sharing.

Winter is long and just to cold. But things will be looking up soon. We spring forward Sunday.
Photo's are great and thanks for taking them for us to see your world.

I'd die.

That being said, only a photographer will brave elements such as that for as great a picture as that under-the-bridge shot. Fantastic. Seriously though, I don't know how you function in that weather, especially at the tail-end of it when it won't seem to ever go away. Hold on tight and soon the thaw will come. xoxo

Oh Mari! I know that I could not do that much snow for as long as you have it for. A day or too is long enough for me! I really do hope that you get some spring very soon! xx

These are beautiful photos but I know you must be so tired of the severe cold and snow. Hopefully we will all be seeing some warmer weather before too long....

Thanks for sharing the photos. Though I'm not a Michigander, they make me homesick for the 3 years I spent in Kalamazoo, the lovely countryside, the people, the farms & farm stands where I could buy great produce including the honeycrisp apples that became my favorite, the red squirrels I grew so fond of. I always thought as a New Englander I knew winter, until my first in SW Michigan, and lake effect snow.

I like your black and white pictures. I am glad that you are not standing out in the lake this year. That seemed so scary to me.
Stay warm, my friend.

I can feel the cold from your photos, Mari...the images actually look cold :)

Stay warm, my dear! Hugs to you!

How magical winter could look if you're viewing it from a warm country. But I know what it feels to have winter & to endure th frigid temps. Your road does look beautiful but can be dangerous to driving. Keep safe.

Awesome perspective from under the bridge! That is a neat shot! Love the photo from your niece as well--very cool! We are finally getting some warmer weather here in Iowa, and the forecast says better things are to come (70 degree days)! Hope things are warming up for you as well.

Catching up on your posts this morning....beautiful pics, but we are all so ready for some color :). It's warmer here in PA this week, is it for you too?
