Black Friday

The Friday after Thanksgiving I woke up to our first snow of the season. It was just a light dusting, but it did look pretty.

The roads were clear, which was good because I was on them bright and early to take advantage of the sales.
I've never gone out that early for the Black Friday sale, and usually don't go at all, but Target had an external hard drive for a great deal and I knew it would be gone fast.
My sister Cheri agreed to go with me and we planned to be at Target shortly after it opened.  I didn't want to be in the group of people waiting to get in the door.  We arrived a little after 5, and found that the whole parking lot was filled along with the parking lot of the grocery store next to it.  And, although the doors were open, there was a line of people going around the store, to the store next door and going across the parking lot.
We decided to go elsewhere for a little while and then try again.  When we returned, we were able to walk in but the store was so crowded we could hardly get around.
We made our way to the back and found one external hard drive left.  Cheri also got a good deal on an electric blanket.   Then we got in line:

Yes - this is the line to check out!  This is the back corner of the store and this is one of three lines that wound through the store.  It took 1 1/4 hours to check out.
Everyone was very nice, except one woman who was quite argumentative.  I was impressed by the employees.  It has to be an awful day to work, but they were very friendly and smiling.
I'm happy I got my hard drive, but next year I think I'll stay in bed!

I've never done Black Friday. I am not a morning person, so I'd have to be guaranteed I'd get the deal to bother to get out of bed. There are just too many 'ifs' involved in getting what you want. I also don't think I'd be a very good patient person outside the store. I wouldn't mind the lines inside as long as I had a friend with me.

I did go to CVS in the afternoon for some Black Friday deals, but it was later in the day, out of the way from some of the main shopping areas, and not really busy. We have multiples of so many major chains that it might have been spread out a little amongst them, but then again, there's a lot of population to spread around too. I was nowhere near a mall, so that probably helped!

Glad you survived. I did that last year for a KitchenAid and said I wouldn't do it again. It's quite an experience. Many think it's a fun time but with me not being a morning person... what more do I need to say. :)

Mari,
You brave soul! I'm glad you got what you went out for. I stayed inside and put up Christmas decorations. We haven't gotten snow yet, but lots of rain on the east side.
P.S. Sorry for the delete, typo..

Bed.....yep, that's my motto. On Black Friday anyway!! You go girl!! Putting up with just the hour and a quarter waiting in line to check out would just drag me to the point of going postal!!! I couldn't do it again....did years ago when the kids were home and young...but not now. LOL

That is CRAZY!!!!! Anthony went to the mall on Friday and came back saying the Black Friday sales aren't all they're cracked up to be. Maybe he was just too late.

Because of my music programs I always did my shopping the week of Christmas, and believe me, the sales ARE good at that point!

I've never been one to do the Black Friday early early shopping. Early for me (when I did it maybe once or twice) was 7 am. LOL

It's just a dream of mine today, but I sure would like to see some snow out my window while I begin a little decorating.....

Hugs!
Kat

I love the thrill of Black Friday, but I will NEVER go to Target. If you're doing that, you need a team to divide and conquer. As soon as you get in the store, have someone wait in line. And then you can do your shopping, get in line, and let the other person do their shopping. My cousin's wife does that. Smart girl, lol!!

You are a brave shopping warrior! I was too chicken and stayed inside on that day and probably ate too much!

As long as you've got life in you and the energy to tackle it...I say go for it! I do think however, they should hand out complimentary cinnamon rolls and coffee...or something!!

Oh, Mari, you are a brave soul to go out shopping on Black Friday. I do know you got an early start, but that lineup. I would have never had the patience to wait. I hope they had several checkouts open.

Glad you got the hard drive. That made it all worth it. Enjoy your week.

Blessings,
Mary

Congratulations on your purchase! Great job!

I thought about going out. But I found the same price on line for a key gift the night before (WITH free shipping) and happily slept in! The cool part is, when we finally ventured out after lunch, I found the two items I wanted to get at Walmart still in stock.
