What do you think?

I've been trying to figure out what to put on my dining room wall, since the things I had there before no longer match and are a bit outdated. I picked up the two shelves and a new clock which I really like. I also love the plaque which says "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord". Now I need to figure out what to put on the shelves. I will need to replace the pumpkin with something else in a little while and I know the little candle holder is too small. Bob thinks they need a little ivy trailing down, but I know fake ivy is considered taboo. What do you think? Any brilliant ideas?

I like the whole look but real ivy would look good. Maybe Bob can take care of it so it will live. LOL

Hey Mari, I agree with Nanc. LOL

Just wanted to let you know that I really like that paint color. The clock is great and you know that plate? I have that whole set that we eat off of.

I would scoot that sign (which I also love) over a little to the right and down where the top isn't even with the other picture. I'd probably put the top of it where the bottom of it is now. I'm guessing about two or three inches lower. Then I'd get something really tall to put on the left side of that lower shelf. Sticks are big right now. Not that I have any, but I've seen other people talk about them. But some kind of container that would match your decor with some kind of non-fake looking tall items to add height. I'd make sure it was higher than that square picture too. Then where that little candle holder is you could just put a larger seasonal decorative candle holder and rotate them out.

Listen to me. I talk like I know what I'm doing. I love your clock. I love your sign. And I love your wall color. What is it, because I might like to use it to get rid of my builder beige? :)

I like it. You have all the shapes there except a triangle.

Hmmmm, How about something triangular below the top shelf/ the the side of the bottom shelf. (like an antique dinner bell)

I always come to you for ideas!

I love the wall color! I'm sorry I have no ideas for you. I'm one of those that have to be there to move things around about 50 times before I like it. :)

I think PinkDaisy Girl has some great suggestions. I think it looks really good, but her introduction of some height just might add that interest that would put it over the top. Everything is sort of standard in height and shape, so maybe the addition of something tall is the item you feel is missing. I also love the idea of rotating something seasonal. I love the clock, I'm thinking of putting one in my bathroom!

Your wall color and your decor look so great!
I was looking at Rebekah's comment when she said to add something under the top shelf. I counted the displays on the wall. They always say in gardening, to plant things in sets of threes and fives. This vignette comes up four. So..........not that you are planting a garden!

Maybe something square hung on the diagonal.
Maybe you could look at K*irklands for tall slender vases to fill in the empty space between vignettes where the candle is at the moment.

I am like Kristie. I have to be there and move them around 50 times. I will be up this weekend! Hee! Hee!

Hey Mari it looks great! NO IVY but maybe something twiggy and tall next to the plate but it has to stay under the sign.I don't know,I actually have ivy myself but I know it's out-of-date.I think I'll get rid of it right now! Take care,Patty

I agree no ivy, but the idea of something twiggy is good, you can get those berry swags in fall and christmas then use something different for winter and summer.

Sounds like you've already got some great suggestions there. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Sometimes I "shop" other rooms in my house to find out what I can repurpose in another room... and it's cheaper that way, too. :-)

I think I would use those shelves for pretty glass candle holders and picture frames.

Inside clear glass would be a white candle and perhaps in between the candle holders I'd put a nice simple clean black framed photo of you and your hubby on one shelf and on the other I'd have another favourite photo, perhaps one of nature-something that reminds you of God's art! And again on either side of the photo I'd have votive candles...depending on how big the photo was, would determine how many candles I'd put on the shelf.

I love the shelves! It would be neat if you found a picture frame that looked similiar to the wood and paint of the shelves. Although you know a white picture frame might look alright (something that matched the inside of the clock).

aw I love dreaming up artistic ideas!

thx for asking...haha I wonder if I helped at all?

I think it looks great. Love the clock. I agree with your honey about the ivy. It would look nice. I know fake flowers are taboo but in moderation I think they are fine! Thanks for sharing Mari:)

I might skip the ivy, family pictures are always a safe bet or something memorable framed like your wedding invite or vows.

It looks wonderful ... so fresh and artistic! You do need something bigger on that one shelf ... maybe something sitting atop a few small antique books. Try it and see. I would not do ivy but perhaps you could find some faux greenery that would look nice. I love faux greenery, LOLOLOL!
