The end! (almost)

I have such exciting news! You have all put up with my little progress reports for months now, but I am happy to tell you my kitchen is done!
.
.
After peeling wallpaper, fixing drywall, moving cabinets around, painting walls, painting cabinets, changing lighting, redoing electrical wiring and switches, putting in a dishwasher, new sink and faucet, putting down new counter top, tiling, removing old floor and putting down new - my wonderful husband has transformed my kitchen!
This is the before of the dining room. You see the green flowered wallpaper and border. Now my dining room looks like this:

The color on the walls is actually a Terra Cotta shade, although it looks red in this picture.

.
This is the main part of the kitchen in the middle of the mess, but it shows you the color of the cabinets and what the counter top, sink and faucet looked like.

Here's what that same area looks like now. The cabinets used to end at the dishwasher and there was a small peninsula there. The kitchen is much more open now.

This is a closer view so you can see the tile backsplash and counter top.
.

This is the vinyl floor that I really disliked for all the years we lived here, coming off!

And - here is the new wood laminate floor along with the area rug that is under our table.
.
Here is one more view of the kitchen, taken as you come in from the back entry.
Of course, there are a few things to do yet - paint touchups, window treatments and some things have to go on the wall. I'm happy to have it done, I'm happy with how it turned out and I'm happy to have a husband who is able to do all those things.

Very cool, I'm so excited for you that you are pretty well done. We redid the cabinets at our old house and I know what a pain a kitchen project like that can be. Brandon and I usually find that we work best as a team since I tend to think further in the process than he does (he says that's why he won't play chess with me -I'm always 3 moves ahead of him) but he's got the strength and intestinal fortitude to get-er-done.

It looks great! I can't believe you both did that on your own. I am a huge chicken when it comes to that kind of stuff. Especially deciding on colors and such.

It looks like a brand new home - I love it! Your colors are beautiful, and the tile work and floor look amazing. Isn't it so wonderful to finally sit back and give thanks for such a blessing?
My make-over wasn't as extensive as yours, but I still share the same feeling. Now...I'm waiting on the floors and countertop, which will be almost the same as yours..we have great taste!!
Enjoy your beautiful room, and give your husband a special hug, he deserves it.

OH OH OH! I love it Mari! I really really love it and how great that it's done just in time for these first little inklings of fall weather, so you can get in there and cook up some yummy fall soups and stews and pumpkiny treats and simmer cinnamon sticks and cloves (your new color scheme is even evocative of such scents!) on the stove and make it all smell wonderful and feel all cozy and homey. Perfection! I want to come sit and have a cup of tea and clap Bob on the back with a hearty "NICELY DONE, GOOD SIR!"

Mari! Wow! Amazing re-do!! Just amazing! I KNOW you're beyond happy and you should be.

I'm cleaning the master closet this weekend, but I sneak away periodically to read a few blogs. (Hey, a girl needs a break every once in awhile! Especially from a job I don't enjoy...at all.) It's been fun catching up with you. I hope you're having a good weekend.

Hugs!

Mari,

Your new kitchen is beautiful. I love the new look. The cabinets and counter top are spectacular and the laminate floor looks absolutely gorgeous. I love wood floors.

We are not done the apartment renovations yet but I'm hoping we are soon. We have painting and the glass enclosure for the bath tub yet and the carpeting. It is getting closer everyday.

Take care and enjoy your new space.
Blessings,
Mary
