Still a mess!

Last week I showed you this mess I had from taking wallpaper down in my Kitchen and Dining area. I thought I would give you an update and tell you things are messier than ever! Bob had today off so he tackled moving some of the cabinets.
Here you see the contents of a couple of them stacked on the table.

This area has had one cabinet removed and moved to make room for a dishwasher. Can you believe I've never had one? We don't have a very big kitchen, but with some prodding from my sister Cheri and some creative thinking by Bob, we figured out how to have a dishwasher and not lose any cabinet space. We're really happy with how things look space wise - this opens up the kitchen and makes it look bigger. However - what a mess! There is drywall dust and sawdust all over. I cleaned the top of my stove off only to have it looking dusty as ever an hour later. The floor has pieces of flooring scraped off and the counter top has cuts through it. I'm afraid it'll be awhile before it's done, but it will be worth it! I'll give you more updates as we work.

NO, I can't believe that you've never had a dishwasher, and I'm SO excited that you're getting one!

We never had one when I was growing up. My sisters and I...we were the dishwashers! :)

Keep updating...can't wait to see it when it's all finished!

Wow! No dishwasher! You deserve one, so I'm glad your getting one! As far as the mess in the words of a Third Day song "Theres a light at the end of this tunnel"!

I have a dishwasher but have some items that need hand washed. I fill up the sink, wash those dishes, then... since I already have a sink of soapy water, I will TAKE dishes OUT of the dishwasher and HAND wash them.

LOL, Im a dork.

During those times of remodeling in our house it's always better for me to be away during the chaos and to return only when "the dust clears". It stresses me out too much! I'm glad you're getting a dishwasher FINALLY! Welcome to the 21st century! :)

I didn't know you were planning for a dishwasher. Great - now all the family gatherings can be over by you!!!

I'm actually envious of your construction site. It means better things are to come. My kitchen is in BAD need of updating, but I do have a dishwasher! My daughter just got her first dishwasher after 19 years of marriage...she now wonders how she did without it. I can't wait to see "updates", I will live vicariously though each and every one of them!

Congrats on getting a dishwasher. I have never had one either. I can't wait for my time to come. We have done our house completely over in the last 10 years, excluding the downstairs bath and kitchen. Someday we will do them, and I look forward to it. Its funny that sometimes the little things such as a dishwasher will seem like such a big deal when you've waited.

Sounds like your project will be nice when it's completed. Best of luck and have a great day!

I LOVE messes like that! It spells improvement! I like remodeling and decorating! I tease when I say that it is such a spiritual experience to me!

I have a dish washer but it doesn't work. When we had a dish washer when we lived in Baltimore, I didn't use it so I figured it was no use getting this one fixed. When we get ready to sell, we will put a new one in.

So, did you knock out a wall to get the space you needed?

Surely there's technology out there that'd allow someone smart to invent dust free drywall or a tool to cut drywall without making dust? It's the major complaint for all the renovators I've ever known!

I can't wait to see the project completed - I love kitchen makeovers!
