Slow Cooking Thursday

Todays recipe is one I really like but don't make often because Bob doesn't like the broccoli. He'll eat this, but it loses something when you pick the broccoli out! I must admit that I don't like plain broccoli either, but somehow it's okay in a recipe like this.
.
Sweet and Sour Chicken
1 pound boneless, skinless breast halves
2 - 9 ounce jars sweet and sour sauce
1 - 16 ounce package frozen loose pack broccoli, carrots and water chestnuts

hot cooked rice
1/4 cup toasted sliced almonds

.
Cut chicken into 1 inch pieces. In a 4 quart slow cooker combine chicken, sweet and sour sauce and frozen vegetables. Cover and cook on low for about 6 hours. Serve over rice and sprinkle with almonds.
.

Hey Mari! I've seen your name and photo on JP's blog. Good to meet you! We'll be at Yongsan and have to report by August 1. There's a contemporary chapel called The ROCK (Relying on Christ in Korea), and we're friends with the chaplain and his family. I hope your son finds a home there and grows in faith while in Korea. We're looking forward to it. My email is on My Profile. He can contact us if y'all want to. Thanks!

OOOH. I love that extra crunch at the end. I bet some of those Chinese noodly things would be good, too! ;)

I think I have to pass on this one- You know I'm not a fan of sweet and sour. Maybe some day my taste buds will mature and it'll taste good to me!!

I bet my family would like this - they all love broccoli but not the water chestnuts. They could pick those out though!

Yum! That sounds great! I'll have to try that one next! This week I made the chicken and rice one. BUT, when I started to make it I realized I had the ingreadiants all messed up. I winged it and it was super yummy, next time it will be even better when I get the grocery list right! Here's what I did.
1 3/4 cup rice (all that was left!)
1 1/2 can cream mushroom soup
3/4 can water
can mushrooms
6 chicken breasts
dry veggie soup mix

See, I was seriously suffering mush brain. BUT it was awfully tasty anyways!

This sounds really good! The men in this house do not like broccoli so I am deprived of this wonderful vegetable. I may have to make this for myself while they are away next month. (;
