Here's what happening today

We are enjoying our day today. Bob and I both have the day off and I was woken to the smell of bacon cooking. Bob made us omelette's for breakfast and they were really good. Andy said he woke up feeling like he went AWOL! He's not quite used to being home on leave. Their project for today is to get Andy's truck to run so he can use it. It required a $12 part so it would start - a solenoid? (probably spelled wrong) . Here they are replacing it and now it is working again. I am making some last minute goodies. We have a family party tonight and so these have to be finished. If you want a few quick and easy things to make, here are the recipes.
Candy Cane Crunch
1 pkg white chocolate bark or candy coating
24 hard peppermint candies or 16 small candy canes
Place candy in plastic bag and crush with rolling pin. Sift and separate larger pieces.

Melt white chocolate. Stir in small pieces of candy. Pour our onto cookie sheet that is covered with parchment paper or waxed paper. Sprinkle larger pieces of candy on top. Cool and break into small pieces.

Pretzel Candy
Hanover snaps pretzels

Hershey Hugs
M & M's
Set out pretzels on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Set a hug on top of each pretzel. Place in 300 degree oven for 3 minutes. Take an M & M and place on top of hug, pressing down into center. Cool in frig until set.

In the meantime my Dad stopped by to check up on Andy. He had to see him again before Christmas. I'm off to do some more baking and cleaning. Enjoy your day!

Sounds like fun!
I wanted to make that peppermint bark stuff on my baking day, but I found a recipe for peppermint fudge instead. So I tried that. It called for a ton of cream cheese and white chocolate and peppermint and maybe something else? However, it never set! So I'm left with peppermint white chocolate cream cheese! How'd you like that on a bagel? :) It's actually not too bad, however, I don't know how the recipe would have actually worked because cream cheese doesn't harden!!! :) Have fun at the party tonight and tell Heather that Ruth and I promise not to come and crash it :)

I love the picture of him and Bob working too, I'm not surprised that dad stopped by. I have to say- I'm going a little nuts- knowing he's right around the corner and not seeing him!

Hi! Stopped by from Saija's blog.
Those pretzel cookies look so good, I may have to make them for Christmas - which of course means ONE MORE trip to the store-but they look worth the trip. I'm in Michigan too - it's looking like a white Christmas for sure!!

Mari,

I'm glad they got the cellunoid in the truck fixed and it is going again.

I loved the recipes. Maybe I will make some of these to take along on the trip. The boys would love them and so would Grandpa.

Thanks for the generous offer to stop by if we get caught in a storm. The last time we got off the road at Monroe when I75 closed.

Take care, Mari. I wish that the Light of Christmas shines in your heart and home during the holiday season.

Blessings,
Mary
