I think that I'm not unusual when I say that I spend a lot of time near my kitchen sink. Obviously I stand there to do the dishes, but I am also next to it most any time I'm in the kitchen. So, it's nice to have things there that bring me joy. Here's a few things that make me smile when I go into my kitchen lately.
1) the yellow Scrub Daddy sponge. It works great and it's smiling! Don't you want to smile back?
2) the green glass soap dispenser. I got it as part of a Christmas gift from Andy and Nikki. It has an old fashioned look, is easy to use to dispense my dish soap and looks nicer than having a soap bottle sitting out.
3) Speaking of old fashioned - I love the farmhouse look, which often uses ball canning jars as accent pieces. I recently saw the idea of using an old jar like that to put some dishwasher soap pacs in. My friend Betsy from My Five Men has an Etsy shop where she sells lots of great old things, and she had a few old Ball jars for sale. Perfect! I think my little jar looks pretty cute sitting there and my dishwasher soap is convenient too!

Oh, I totally agree....we spend tons of time there! Might as well make it beautiful and enjoy it! Your jar looks great...that's a super idea!
You have a lovely kitchen sink, Mari. I love the idea of the old Mason jar to hold your dishwasher packets, as well as the glass soap dispenser! And I totally get why you like to have things at your sink that bring you joy! We spend a lot of time at the kitchen sink.
I cannot say with any honesty that I love my sink, but I do love looking out of the window over it at the garden! Glad you like your sink!
That is a pretty green glass soap dispenser; a very thoughtful gift. It was Arlene at Nanaland that persuaded me to try the Scrub Daddy and I love it! I also like the idea of displaying the dishwasher pacs and they are safe from pets and kids. Enjoy your day.
I need to get another scrub daddy....mine wore out. I've tried several glass soap dispensers for dish soap but have yet to discover one I really like. Is yours designed specifically for dish soap?
So pretty...like you, I love to make my surrounding nice. It just brings joy to the day!!
No wonder you stay close to the sink when you are in the kitchen....everything is so welcoming and pretty. We use those jars for lots of different things and have an abundance in our utility room at all times.
{{{grinning}}} What a lovely sink area, Mari....smiles
We don't have a dishwasher at this house, so I spend a lot of time at the sink. But, we do have that big kitchen window which I love to look out while working there, 'cause I'm nosy.
I really like your area, Mari. Your home always looks nice.

I discovered the Scrub Daddy sponges by accident and just love the way they clean. Checking out your friend's Etsy shop;)
Me too, Mari! I spend more time in front of the kitchen sink than anywhere else in the house. I like the little Scrub Daddy.
For all the hours in a day we spend at our kitchen sinks, yes, things that make you smile are great to have! Like the old ball jar, great idea to use it for dishwasher packets!
Love all of your touches - so adorable to do your soap packs like that. And I LOVE the scrub daddy too. It definitely makes me smile. ;)
xoxo
You are so blessed to have a window over your sink. That is one thing that I miss since moving here. I do like to look outside while I am working in the kitchen.
Your smiley sponge, soap dispenser and look cute! What a great idea!
Oh I definitely spend a lot of time at my sink. Love your smiley sponge :)
Aww! Maybe I'd love my sink more if I had a sponge smiling at me!
You're like Lori. She likes the farmhouse look too. I think I may have spent too much of my life in real old farmhouses that needed too much work and had peeled paint because there wasn't time or money to do anything about it. But I do like those touches on your sink!
