Cooking Thursday

I saw a recipe on facebook that looked like something we would enjoy.  It's a chicken and wild rice dish, easy to make and easy to eat!  Try it, I think you'll like it!

No Peek Chicken

1 box Uncle Ben’s Long Grain Wild Rice (original recipe)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
2 cans water
6 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
In a greased 9 x 13 pan, mix the box of rice, cans of celery and mushroom soup and
two cans of water.
Arrange the raw chicken on top of the rice mixture….
Cover and seal with foil……
Bake at 350 degrees for 2 1/2 hours and “Don’t Peek!”

In winter I often make this dish when I'm not up to cooking and want something tasty. It's a perfect go to dish and the chicken always turns out wonderfully.

We will love this and I like dishes cooked in foil - easy clean up!

Thank you for sharing this, Mari. I actually have everything on hand that I need to give this a try. I'll probably try it over the weekend.

Could this be done in a crock pot Mari? Maybe on high?

I know that this is a good recipe because I make a similar one for Chad. He cannot get enough of that dish!

I need to pick up a few cans of soup to have on hand when you post these yummy sounding recipes. I bet this could be done in the crockpot too.

I've made a recipe that is very similar in the crockpot, on low for 6-7 hours and about 1/2 can less water.

This really reminds me of a dish I used to make except for the two different kinds of soup and sometimes I'd use pork. So glad you posted this, Mari. I'll making this soon!

This looks like something that Aunt Cheri brought us when we had Alaina. I still remember it because it was so good and comfort food tasting!

This sounds very similar to a chicken and rice dish that Andrew makes. We often add cheese to it. Most things are better with cheese!

My family will love this! I have made something similar with regular white rice. I will look forward to trying this next weekend. Thanks so much!
