Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning...  How many of you do it?  I remember my Mom taking part in this old tradition.  The cabinets were all emptied and cleaned inside and out, along with the articles in them.  Walls were washed and so were windows.  The stove, refrigerator and freezer were cleaned out, and it continued through the house.  What a lot of work!  But such a good feeling when it was done.
I must admit that I don't clean like that, and I don't think there are many that do.  I do work on some of it though.  This past week I cleaned out quite a few of my kitchen cabinets and next week I plan to work on the refrigerator and freezer.  And when it gets a little nicer, it's so nice to open clean windows and let some fresh air in!
I don't like using regular towels when I do my cleaning, because of the lint they so often leave behind.  I have some flour sack towels that clean well without leaving the lint.  They also wash up nicely.  I have a few that I keep separate for drying glasses and another that I use to cover bread dough when it's rising.  They are very handy to have around!
If you have some cleaning to do and are interested in these towels, I got them from the online ACS store.  They have lots of other great products too.  Friends of mine own this store and I can assure you that not only will you enjoy their products - they'll give you good service too!

I ajm inspired. My house is badly in need of a spring cleaning but I admit that I get lazy by the time I get home from work. When the weekend rolls around, I put it off. I need to follow suit. Like you, I appreciate a clean, renewed household. Maybe I'll focus on one room at a time. Thanks for the jolt of encouragement. I'm also craving some homemade bread.

My mother washed all the windows and curtains and blinds and all the wood floors in our old house. It was a southern thing she used to tell me. They always did it in the south..well later I found out it wasn't just the south. I like to do it when it is cool and before the pollen gets high. Sad to say you are right, not many do this anymore and when you mention it to the younger set they look at you like you are crazy. NO time, don't care not sure what it is. I still do it for some things others not. Houses these days do not have nearly as much dirt in them like the dirt floors of yesteryear. I saw a Walton's show where they picked up the rugs and moved all the furniture and cleaned the whole place. What work back in the 30's! I too await that warm air of spring so I can open windows and let the fresh air indoors. You and your family have a wonderful Easter. :-)

Most of my spring cleaning is done, although I skipped over a few rooms...

I'm needing some towels like these, thanks for the link! I don't clean as much as I used to now that I'm, ahem, older. But I clean as I can. It's just too hard to do so much at once. And I'm a lot slower, too!

Have a lovely Easter weekend.

No spring cleaning takes place in my house -- I mean, what is the point, a year later you have to do it all again -- but I take care of things relatively well all year round. Just don't come over here and snoop around on high shelves or anything, haha ... but hey, I really like that ACS website. Flour sack towels are great.

I don't do as much as I used to when I was younger. I had done some last weekend but I want to wait when we can open the windows and air things out also.
Happy Easter

I get the cleaning bug at the turn of the new year and if I go through the entire house on and off, it takes me through spring to get it done! But I do love the results!

Some years I spring clean and other years I don't; sort of depends on our travel schedule and whether we're even home in the spring :)

No spring cleaning for me. At least not like you described! I do little chunks here and there and it eventually all gets done...by next spring! ;)

I guess it is that time of year isn't it but I haven't started yet....The towels are a good idea and I think I will try some...Anything to make the job of cleaning easier and faster.....

Happy Easter my friend....

I like the traditional cleaning. Especially living here in the south when you have a tendency of cockroaches with all the humidity. So, cleaning is a must. Keeps 'em away.

I too use the same towels.

I'm stopping by this morning Mari, to send along my wishes for you and your family that your day be blessed and filled with love and devotion. Happy Easter.

worked a little on this over the weekend. My house feels so much cleaner. I do really like the results when I clean a little deeper!
