Works for me Wednesday

Do you make desserts that used crushed oreos for the crust? I seem to make more of these in the summer, making ice cream dessert.
I watch for oreos to go on sale. It takes about 1/2 of a regular package to make one crust, so I crush the oreos in my chopper, doing first one half of the package and then the other half. I then package each half in a zip-loc bag.
When I need to make a dessert, the crust is easy to do because of the already crushed oreos, the mess is only made once and the other cookies don't get eaten because they are already crushed.

I don't make many, but this is a great idea. I think it would probably work great for graham cracker crusts, too. I use those more.

Of course once I click over and look at the ice cream dessert, all bets are off since ice cream is a food group at our house. It might have to be ice cream dinner.

Mari, I am not safe around Oreos and they are not safe around me! Sometimes (about twice a year) I must have some Oreos, though. One such time was last Sunday night! They were so good. I love any dessert with crushed Oreos for the crust!

I like your idea of dividing the package in half...but must I make 2 crusts? :)

mmmmm oreos. they would not make it into the chopper, especially if there was milk in the fridge!

the real question is how do you buy oreos and make them last long enough to make a dessert out of them! :P

This is a great way to keep them safe from the family! :) Thanks!

Crushing those cookies up so no one will eat them is the BEST idea I have heard YET! LOL!

Sounds like a winner of an idea Mari!!! Clever lady. Altho, I've never [that I recall] had Oreo™ pie crust. I will have to try that...do you use the frosting parts also?

Happy Wednesday, and thanks for the visit.

Mari,

What a great idea since I only need half of them to make the crust I can eat the other half!

Oreos are my weakness! They call to me from my kitchen at night!

I would probably eat the frozen crushed oreo right out of the freezer with a spoon. But..it's a great idea for normal people!

What a neat idea. Anytime you can do a messy job in just one time it's worth it.

My family loves oreos, including me and the dogs... and I think crushed Oreos would even go well as an ice cream topping...

i love blueberry cheesecake with crushed honey graham cookies as the crust. But just recently, I got to eat blueberry cheesecake with crushed Oreos as the crust, and it was really delicious.

Thanks for the tip.
