A Day in my Life - May

Hooray - it's May! Here's my usual first day of the month post sharing how I spent the day.

When I got up in the morning, I started by heading downstairs for a 40-minute walk on the treadmill.

After walking, I went back upstairs. Here's how things looked in the backyard. It was a cloudy day and cool; 40 degrees Fahrenheit at 8am.

Then I got ready for the day, had my boiled egg for breakfast and went back downstairs to start a load of laundry.

Something I do every morning is an app called Happy Color. I do the daily one they put out, but there are other choices as well.  Here's the one for May 1, before and after coloring.

After that, I helped Bob take the headboard off our bed.  He's going to be doing some work in our bedroom and was trying to make a little room to work by moving our queen bed around. It's not a big room so every bit helps.

After we got that done, I went to the eye doctor.  I had an appt the week before and ordered new lenses. They were in so I needed to stop and get them put into my frames.  It didn't take too long and I was back out the door. The new glasses work well!

Before going home, I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few items.

Then I went home; it was lunch time and I had cottage cheese with blueberries and raspberries.  If you've never tried that, it's a real treat.

I've shown this before, but every other month, I do a newsletter called The Lightkeeper for our church, that highlights people and things that have been going on.  This is the month for it, and it needed to be put into the member mailboxes.  Bob came along to help stuff them.

Here's the mailboxes. It's double sided so there are an equal number of slots on the other side.  These mail slots get lots of use!

Here's a few pages of The Lightkeeper so you can see what it's about.  The top photo highlights a couple from our church. They've been married for 66 years and have a great testimony.  The bottom page is about the Pinewood Derby that happened last week.  The kids work on making cars and there is a big race at the end of the year.  It's such fun!

We enjoyed our drive home.  It was still cloudy, but the flowering trees are blooming and are beautiful.  This is a Redbud and we saw a several of them on the drive.

Things are starting to really pop up on the trail along the side of the house.

Grape hyacinths are so pretty!

When I was at the store, they had ground beef on sale, so I bought 5 pounds.  I often buy it on sale, then brown it all.  I drain the grease and rinse it, then package it in one pound packages and freeze it. It makes it very easy to use when needed.

I then spent some time on the Bible study I'm doing.  I'm finding this one very good - and convicting too!

Shortly after 4, Bob and I headed out to get supper.  We usually have a date night on Friday.  As you can see, it was still dark and cloudy.

Here we are at the restaurant. It's an Italian place that we really enjoy.

Before going home, we stopped at Lowe's to get some paint samples to try out for our bedroom project.

And here we are, almost home around 7pm. The sun is trying to peek out.

When we got home, we watched an old episode of Columbo. We find we enjoy those old shows!

And once again - it was a good day!

Dear Mari, I love your photos and enjoyed reading about your busy day.
I like what you do with the ground beef on special, what a great idea, dear friend.
I am glad you both got some leisure time at an Italian restaurant.
I love that photo.
