Our special volunteer

We have a special volunteer who comes to the nursing home every other week.  I think he may be the most anticipated volunteer we have.  His name is Bentley, and he's a dog!  He is very gentle and is well trained.  He stands right next to people and lets them pet him.
This week, he came in costume for Halloween.   I don't think he was too happy about this outfit because he didn't want to look at me for his picture. Our residents loved it though!

Isn't he cute?

What a sweet little fellow! My neighbor has a dog who is adorable. She bought him a Halloween costume, a cowboy hat vest and bandana. He looks adorable but hates having the hat on I think the elastic holding it on bothers him. Everyone gets such a kick when he stops to get attention from them. I'll wager Bentley is good medicine for your patients.

Indeed he is! I'm sure the residents love him! It is neat when animals come to visit the elderly. I know some retirement homes have resident pets. One nearby has a couple cats. I remember one in Portland though that had a big, slobbery, black lab. I wasn't impressed with that one!

Bentley looks like just the perfect dog to visit residents!

Bentley is adorable!! It is amazing how animals can calm a troubled soul, lower blood pressure, ease stress. Bless Bentley's owners for their special ministry!!

Oh my goodness what a sweet heart!! I think it is wonderful that the owners of service animals take time to make others happy with their special pets.
