Celebrating the 4th!

I hope all off you had a nice weekend, and those of you in the USA were able to enjoy some celebrations on July 4th.
I had to work during the day.  It was a good day with no surprises, lots of visitors for our residents and some nice activities.  I got out of work on time, a little after 3 and we went to Aaron and Laura's house for supper.

When we got there Alaina was playing in her new pool.  It was a warm, sunny day - perfect for some backyard fun!

We enjoyed our supper; hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon, chips and some red, white and blue treats!

I made some blue finger jello circles and stars for Alaina, Laura made those pretty layered bars, and I also made Linda's recipe for the Jello Berry Pie.  Yum!

After supper, we enjoyed some time outside.  Alaina was unhappy in this shot because Aaron left for a few minutes to feed his sisters dog and she wanted to go along.  That didn't last long though.

Soon she was running and laughing in the yard.

 Ruby showed off her hairdo...

 and her cute toes...

and her excitement at standing up!

After a while we went inside, where Grandpa could lay on the floor and play with his sweeties.

We had planned to go to fireworks at night, but there were 2 little girls who were tired from a big day of celebrating.  So, before it was even dark, we went outside and did a few mini fireworks of our own.
Aaron and Alaina checked out the products.

We had a few colored smoke bombs.  (Laura isn't waving, she's swatting at all the mosquitoes that attacked us!)

Alaina wasn't too sure about these snapping sparklers.

And last, but not least, were a few sparklers.
We went home and I think the girls slept well.  It was a nice evening.

Awwww...it sure brightens my day when you show pictures of Ruby and Alaina. Thanks for the shout out--however, I ended up not making it, I bought a Wattamelon roll from the store (the guys idea--it's good, but I had my heart set on the jello pie)

Have a beautiful day, Mari. Blessings

Next year, the firework display will be a big part of her day I'm sure. She'll understand a bit better.

Love the patriotic food AND the darling colorful red white and blue outfits the girls are wearing!! LOVE Ruby's 'do'.

Ruby's hair! Oh I love her style. And she's so big I can't believe it. I know another little girl who needs a pool like Alaina's. It looks like a compact resort! Too much. I'm glad y'all had a good holiday together. We didn't do much of anything. xoxo

What a beautiful day! Our Harper is still startled by the boom and so we stayed home too. The other little ones headed to their family in Chattanooga so we missed the business of the older ones. Thanks for sharing your day. Don't the little ones, just make the holidays brighter?

Sounds like it was a lovely a precious 4th with your family and those beyond adorable little girlies!! I love how Ruby's hair kind of looks like a firework. Lol ;)

The goodies you gals made looked so good too! What was in that layered dessert Laura made? Is it a cake? Everything looked yummy and great idea about jello stars - the kiddos are at a perfect age for that fun!

Blessings fora beautiful week ahead. xo

I just loved these pictures and reading about your celebration. I'm hoping to find time to post my pics on my blog before too long. I'm just too sleepy tonight after too many short nights in a row.
