And it begins...

At the end of last week, the weather people were predicting cold and snow for us.  When I got up Thursday, I cracked open the door to check, anticipating a dusting of snow.  That is not what I saw!  There was already at least 4 inches on the ground.
I usually turn on the morning news while getting ready.  The weather man came on and what did I hear?  "Allendale (my little town) is ground zero for snow fall today".  What?  How did we get so lucky?
I packed myself up and went to work.  It was snowing like crazy, slippery and hard to see in places.
Here's how things looked at work.

This is a picture of our backyard.  Do you see all that snow on the bird feeder?
We got 10 inches of snow on Thursday and another 4 inches by Friday morning.  This was our first snowfall of the season.  What a way to start the season!
This weather has continued through the weekend.  We got another 5 inches by Sunday, and today has been awful.  We're under a winter storm warning that started on 1pm Monday and isn't done until 9pm Tuesday.  It's snowing, blowing so that there are whiteouts and we're supposed to get another 8 inches by tomorrow night.

This was taken out of our living room window this afternoon...

And this is what the back yard looks like.
I don't remember having snow like this before Thanksgiving Day.  I'm a bit worried about what this winter is going to bring!

That is amazing! Snow is much more fun when you can stay inside and watch from your warm cozy home! (and the power stays on!) Can't believe you got all that snow in a weekend!

Oh my Mari, I don't think I have ever seen that much snow before Thanksgiving. Bless your heart, please be careful as you are out and about in that stuff…I have to say it is pretty…Have to look on the bright side, uh? haha

Wait, Wait! I had to get out my calculator. 31 inches and counting. This may be the year you will want to spend in Florida.

Mari, I am jealous of all your snow. Only because here in South Carolina we never get snow. But even here we have been cold, and generally we can have 70 degree weather in January.

I remember all the ice on the lake you showed us from last year that, in all honesty, seems like just a few weeks ago...and now this? My goodness.

Unbelievable!!!!! All that before Thanksgiving! I agree with Cheryl! I'm hoping someday we will not be so tied to our jobs and can go spend a month or two of winter at Lisa's. Not sure that will ever happen. Stay safe, Mari!

WOW, Mari. You really have gotten hit hard with winter weather already this season! Stay warm!

My goodness, Mari
You guys really got slammed with winter weather!!

We had a couple of inches fall on Sat. evening, but so far, that's it.

It is so beautiful, but I like you, worry about the slick roads and everyone having to drive on them.

Be safe.

Oh my, Mari!! I can't imagine that much snow before Thanksgiving. I grew up in Ohio, so I know snow. My dad used to hope for an inch or so, by Thanksgiving morning, so he could go rabbit hunting (and see the tracks in the snow). I don't ever remember that much snow in November. Please stay safe. I know you need to get to work, no matter the weather. Take care!

UGH!!!! I'm cold just looking at that picture. I've got a feeling the whole country is in for a long, cold, snowy winter!

Incredible amount of snow this early. I'll share this photos with John. He loves your MI photos. I think we are all apprehensive about this winter. Stay safe.

My goodness!! The weather seems to have gone a bit topsy turvey again, there is all this snow with you and then record temperatures in Australia!! The show looks beautiful, but I know how hard it is to live when it is like this. I hope that you stay safe and warm. xx

Yikes Mari!

I guess I'll promise not to complain about our 5 inches before Thanksgiving - even though I thought that was bad enough!

Prayers that this is not a foreshadowing for what is to come this winter. Maybe you're just getting it all out of the way earlier. Ya, let's go with that. ;)

I'm sorry but I'm just grinning like a little kid over here. This is so exciting. It does strike fear in my heart to think of you driving on those slippery roads, but I know you're not new at that and that you don't have far to go, and I'm sure you're extra-careful. But the snow is just so pretty and so festive, I can't help being a little bit envious ... just a little bit, because I do not envy the bitter cold that comes along with it. Happy happy pre-Thanksgiving week, Mari! xoxo

Here's a depressing update for you. Just watched the news and Allendale is ground zero again- we're at 17 inches from yesterday :(

Oh how pretty though (ducking, lol)...Buffalo got the brunt of it, they got near 5 feet--and still snowing over there (80 m miles to the west)--I do believe, we won't escape it though. So sorry about all that snow...so, it begins. (winter) Blessings

It's beautiful but I'm not so ready for that. I guess we had a bit too much ice last year. At least the roof is on now. Stay warm and be careful, Mari.

Oh my goodness! I did the math and that's over two feet of snow in a week! Craziness :/ Stay safe and stay warm, my friend!

Wow - Mari - I can't even imagine having to drive in conditions like this. Please be careful, and take care. And, here we are in FL thinking we're cold. :)

So pretty'!
We normally don't get much until the first of the year but we already got a dusting in October and another today.

You really did get a lot more than we did. Snow does really make for beautiful shots.

Wow! It's Winter. Here, in Paris, it'ld be a disaster if snow arrived now. But, with you, snow is beautiful!

Damn, I've obviously missed a lot of your posts, sorry Mari. Now I see all your snow. Serves me right for working back wards through your posts!
