Enough, already!

You are probably sick of reading about winter, but it seems to be never ending here and I, for one am pretty sick of it!    I've never been a fan of winter.  I seem to be cold all the time, I hate driving in the snow and I hate worrying about my kids driving in it too. Usually though, we have a storm and then some decent weather so the roads can clear.  This year, it seems to be one storm after another with lots of really cold weather, and I have to admit it's getting to me. I've been quite a sight in the evening; a blanket on my legs, fingerless gloves on my hands and a scarf around my neck. I can't seem to stay warm, but it does provide entertainment for my family.
I know that a lot of you are dealing with the same or worse though, and I'm reassuring myself that January is nearly done!

Anyway - we have had more bad weather this weekend.  When I got groceries on Friday, it was apparent that people were preparing to be stuck at home.

The milk was being bought up.

And so was the bread!

The winds were gusting and the temperature with wind chill factor was -20.  My brother-in-law Mark took this picture showing the white out conditions making driving difficult.

Of course I was scheduled to work this weekend and in my job, you can't just call in. We got about a foot of snow Friday night, and there were drifts about 3 feet high in the road. I took Bob's vehicle because it's 4 wheel drive and made it in, but it was a harrowing drive.

This is what some of the drifting looks like. A friend took this picture in a neighboring town - yes, there is a house back there!
There was more blowing and icy roads on Sunday and as I type this, it's snowing again!

It's good for me to remind myself that God is in control, even when I don't care for the outcome.

"He says to the snow, 'Fall on the earth,' and to the rain shower, 'Be a mighty downpour'."
Job 37:6

Oh, bless you!!! You're having so much more snow than we are. It seems to be snowing all the time, but it doesn't accumulate like yours is. And we haven't had the high winds either. That last picture is CRAZY!!

Funny. I just read this verse this week and thought of you. Whew! Just heard the prediction that this GA girl may be getting snow on Wed. HooHOO!

Winter weather was a BIG reason we moved to Arizona! I totally understand what you are going through. Here's hoping things start to warm up and thaw out!

I could not imagine driving in those conditions, with the huge drift you show and white out. I am glad you drove safely to work.

That was quite the drive in to work on Saturday - glad Sunday was better. But here we go again - so glad I've got a few days off!
The weather this winter is indeed crazy!!

I was thinking about you the other day when I saw the reports on TV. How scary that we must go out in treacherous weather. Blowing hard tonight and so cold I am sheltering up under my electric throw, you are not alone my dear.. I wear a stocking hat too indoors. Seems to help me a lot. I turned up the heat but the house is large and drafty. Stay warm and well and be safe..always have the cell phone charged and handy. :-)

I can't imagine dealing with temps that cold or that much snow. There does not seem like there will be much change in the weather this week, either.
Take care.

Oh my, Mari!! I can't even imagine, anymore, going out in weather like that. Thank goodness you have a four-wheel drive vehicle to use!

We have heavy rain this morning, and our temps are going up in the high 70s today. Wish I could send some of it your way!

LOL'ing..sorry..you can not simply steal my thoughts! (rolling laughter, wink)--dear friend, I am in total aggreeance with you and we are experiencing that today here, off and on. Luckly, my son doesn't have to catch the bus till 10. Blessings (thinking spring, thinking spring, thinking spring, clicking my heels)

Wow...that is some drifting!
I'm going to the grocery today because we're supposed to have incredibly low temps tomorrow and I expect the boys will not go to school. Funny how the bread and milk always clear out..neither of those are staples in our home! ha.
You need to sit on a heating pad! haha ...or get an electric blanket.

I really think I'm the only one in the country still talking about how much I love snow and how beautiful it is. lol....

Your photos make me realize that I need to stop complaining about our damp, rainy weather. Take care and stay safe if you have to drive anywhere.

It is very cold here (well, cold for North Carolina, anyway) but thankful we haven't gotten any snow. I loathe snow and all the hassle it brings.

Brink on Spring!!!!!!

Good luck driving around in all of that mess!

I've been complaining about the weather, but seeing your snow quiets me down. I'll just get another cup of tea and be thankful we don't have feet of snow. Take care and keep cozy.

We are being tested this winter, aren't we? We are going to be some happy people when Spring finally arrives, but first...we have to make it through February! I agree, we need a break so at least we can see the pavement again! Bundle up!

It's so strange how we are at polar (pun intended) opposite ends of the weather spectrum. You are all snowed and iced in, we are in drought with temps of 65 as the average. I shouldn't complain after hearing your weather but boy, we need some rain and snow badly out here in California! Stay warm there, and drive safe, yikes!

Oh my gosh, Mari. I don't know how you do it. I hope your travels were safe this weekend. I also hope you're hard at working planning that Florida retirement. :)

Wow Mari! These are some really impressive photos! The white-out and the 'house back there' really told the story. I am so thankful that you made it in to work ok. Thank God you had a 4 wheel drive vehicle!

I look just like you in the evenings, minus the gloves. I can't get warm either! It's currently -2F and it's supposed to get colder tomorrow. Schools are closed, it's just been crazy.

You keep safe! And I do thank you for your dedicated service to your work. You are a great role model!

Well it's awful, and that's all. We've had several cold days but no winter precipitation. The forecast is for a dusting (or 2 or 4 inches) of snow here on Tuesday night and into Wednesday. I'll believe it when I see it. Meanwhile you stay bundled up and drive extra-carefully. xoxo

Haaahahaha that last comment wasn't from TG, it was from me. He's logged on at my iMac because his laptop is in the shop. It was the Pirate all along. LOL

I'm with you we need a break. It is beautiful though (in looking out).

I wish you girls didn't have to drive in this bad weather. That concerns me! I know that you will drive safely. Your pictures really convey just how bad it is.

It is -8 degrees here. I walked to the mailbox and my face felt frozen. Usually the mail carrier brings the packages to our door. He didn't bother today. He just hung them on the box. I don't blame him.

Oh Mari, I am so sorry that you are having to get out and deal with this mess. Please be careful when you are out and about...I do pray that February is a more gentle month for those of you in the mid west.....

I'm so with you. Today is the first day in forever that I was able to send the boys off to school--and on time at that! I almost forget what it's like to have peace and quiet, lol! I haven't taken my long johns off in several days. Sometimes I have two scarves on, and typically I'm wearing two pairs of socks. And that's just to hang out in the house! I won't even go into how cold the toilet seat is in my bedroom, the farthest room from the woodstove.
Yep. Bring on SPRING!! :)
