Cooking Thursday

This is a recipe that's been around a while. It was really popular when I was in high school if that tells you anything! I haven't made them for awhile, because they aren't especially healthy. :)
However - I made them while Andy was home. When he tried them, his exact words were - "where have these been all my life?" Yes - they are really good!

Chocolate Caramel Squares

14 ounce package caramels
1/3 cup evaporated milk
1 german chocolate cake mix
1 tablespoon water
3/4 cup softened butter
6 ounces chocolate chips

Combine caramels and milk; microwave, stirring occasionally until melted and set aside.
Combine remaining ingredients except chocolate chips. Stir together until dough is crumbly, but holds together. Press half of dough into greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over crust. Spread melted caramel over all. Sprinkle reserved dough over all. Bake 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool completely and enjoy!

Oh oh....you caught me drooling at my desk once again! You do that to me to torture me, I know. [kidding]

These look scrumptious.

Oh, and Mari, thanks for telling me I've been saying your granddaughter's name correctly. I'm kinda a 'stickler' when it comes to someone mispronouncing a name....since I've had that all my life with my maiden surname and now my married surname. GEEZ. LOL

The question is, where have these been all MY life? I'd like to drown in a vat of melted caramel.

I am also sitting here drooling.
I can see why they are not healthy, but when it comes to caramel and choc I overlook that part.'
I also wanted to tell you we had your lasagne soup last night and we loved it!!! Hubs called the recipe a keeper.

Why do I see these delicious treats at the most inopportune times? Now I have to go to the kitchen to find something to eat, although nothing that I have can match that!
