Hiding...

I've got a story to tell you that will probably give you a laugh.
Last Thursday night, my sister Cheri called me around 9 at night and asked if she could run over with her son, Nick, so I could look at his arm. It seems he fell at work and as the night went on, the wrist area was swelling.
When I looked at it, it was swollen and painful enough that I thought he needed x-rays.
I offered to go to the ER with her, so Mark could stay home with the younger girls. Of course, this was not a quick visit. He did have a small bone fractured in his wrist and had to have a splint applied. We got home around 1 am. I can't just jump in bed, and didn't have to go to work the next morning, so I read a while and went to bed at 2am.
So - that's the background for the next day. I slept late, getting up around 9:30. Then, instead of hopping in the shower and getting ready, I started checking e-mails and blogs. Of course, as I was sitting there in my pj's, with my hair sticking up in the air (not a pretty sight); a car pulls in the driveway. In a panicked state, I went to the corner of the living room to see if this was someone I knew. As soon as I saw a girl get out of the car, I knew this was a bad idea. I didn't know her - she was probably trying to sell something. There was no way I was going to open the door looking like I did, but I couldn't run and hide because of the big picture window. So - I sat on the floor, next to the couch.
The doorbell rang. Then it rang again. At this point, I had a terrible thought. "What if she could see my feet or legs, and thought someone was hurt?" The thought of them calling 911 and having to explain the whole situation was not good!
Thank goodness, she left at this point. I peeked out the window, praying the car would leave, and it did!
I then made a beeline for the shower. Of course - no one else came to the door.
Moral of the story - if you don't get ready right away in the morning, don't open the blinds!
PS - Nick is doing fine!

hahaha...i learned that lesson when reading my bible one morning on the front porsh in pjs...only to look up and see my neighbor walking up the driveway to ask me something!! no where to run!! what in the world was i thinking sitting out FRONT in pjs?! it WAS only 8 am...but apparently being out front opens you to anything!!

So funny! I can relate too!
I have a mirror over my couch that reflects whose on the front porch without my having to go look. I can stand in the hall and see in the mirror!
I would like to learn how to hang from the ceiling like in your cartoon!

You slept till 9:30??? Wow, that is funny, things like that only happen when you look the worse. Like running to the store in dirty sweats, no make up and hair all over the place, yup you meet old friends who look like they just stepped out of the spa.....I can just see you hiding on the floor... to funny

Totally can relate - too funny! At least where we live now people have to ring from the lobby and by the time they get to the 9th floor, I've got about 3-4 min. to do an emergency fix, lol!! So glad Nick is doing better. Trust he'll heal well!

Ha! I've done the exact opposite. I had to open the door a couple of weeks ago for some boys who were trying to get people to come to a revival service at their church. It was well after lunch and I was still in my pjs. I think they wished I had not opened the door. Next time I'm hiding!

That´s actually what I wanted to do the other night when we got those "visitors" I forgot about. Unfortunately it was at night and the lights were on, so they could see we were home. hahaha
Love this!

Hilarious! We're early risers and usually I'm showered and dressed by 6:00. Wouldn't you know it, the ONE very rare time I wasn't, kind of the same thing happened to me! Except we have a window in our door and I had to answer it and felt compelled to explain!

The cartoon--SO funny!

This happened to me on Saturday. My neighbor never comes THAT early!
Fortunately, I was dressed but had not combed my hair. I love your cartoon!

haha! I've done something similar. We used to have someone who would drop in all of the time and she was terribly nosey and hard to get rid of. Sometimes when we'd see her walking across the yard we'd hit the floor and hide.

Wouldn't that have been awful if that girl had called 911 for you!

Oh mercy, I am laughing so hard. This very thing has happened to me more times than I care to remember. I always hate it when the doorbell rings because if I am at home, I am usually wearing pajamas. Why get dressed if you're not going anywhere? That's my philosophy.

That is too funny! I don't always get showered and dressed right away on the weekends; I should be more careful!!

I have been busted like this way too many time. I've been on my couch with the blinds open and someone drives in the driveway. Oh what a panic feeling.
