Simple Pleasures

Bonnie from Simple Beauty shared pictures of 6 things that are simple pleasures for her. These are things that are not vital but bring happiness! She challenged us to do the same.
I recently did a list of things like this, but finding pictures adds a new dimension. Here's what I came up with:

1) Spending time with family! This picture taken last summer at Lake Michigan. In the picture are Heather, Bob, Laura and Aaron. Right after this was taken, Andy called from Korea, so in a way we were all together.
.
2) Flowers make me happy! Seeing them blooming outside is always great and a vase on the table in the winter, adds cheer to the cold months.
.
3) Our kitten, Oliver. He is the funniest thing to watch. This picture was taken after he fell asleep on Laura's lap. He sleeps in the craziest positions!
.
4) I don't have a picture, but music brings me so much joy. I love to play the piano when I have a little extra time. I sing a lot, although my family doesn't always appreciate it. Hearing a favorite song on the radio will always bring a smile!
.
5) Beautiful mornings! I enjoy the time of year when the sun is coming up as I go to work. Seeing the world around me in such a beautiful way is the perfect way to start the day.
.
6) I really enjoy trees. They have a different beauty in each season, and I think they get more interesting the older they are. I think the rough bark of an old tree is similar to the wrinkles in an older persons skin. They have both been around for a while and have a unique beauty to show for it!
.
Do you have any simple pleasures to share?

What lovely and evocative photos ... I especially love the one of your children, and the fact that you felt Andy was there! Your flowers are beautiful too. I have no luck with those so I must appreciate the ones grown and tended to by others! I also love the fact that you play the piano! My contribution is to hum constantly!

Absolutely wonderful idea to go along with the six things that make you happy. I could sit for hours on that bench...is this the one that your husband made? Ahhhhhhh, serenity.

Those were nice pictures, and you could have snuck in that video of the couple playing the piano for music! You know, Oliver is very, very cute. Maybe it's the boy cat, because Peka also sleeps in funny positions. He also likes to cover his eyes with one of his paws when he sleeps.

Mari,

The simple things in life are the best. I love the photo of the tree. I also like trees and the ones that are mishapen and knarled have so much character.

Thank you for the encouraging words left in my comments for Brandon. Your thoughtfulness is truly appreciated.

Blessings,
Mary

Lovely photos and things that make you happy! Your kitty is too funny! We once took care of a dog that slept really weird too, scrunched up close and facing the wall with all his paws touching the wall.

Me gusta mucho arboles! One of these days I want to try creating a quilt that shows the "wrinkles" in a tree trunk and the multitude shades of green in the leaves.

Dear Mari,
I must confess that I went over this post four or five times before putting down this comment.

It was such a joy to read, the pictures did make a huge difference than just reading the words. I can't believe we are alike in so many ways, if you look over my blog you will see many sunrise pictures, trees, flowers... and I love cats and dogs too, not to mention my family.

ANd thanks to you, one of my plans as soon as I get back home to my home town is to buy a brand new slow cooker pot!

What a neat picture of your family with the shadows.
One of my simple pleasures is being back home in CO. I forgot how beautiful and green it is, and didn't realize how much I missed it's beauty.
