Tuesday marks 6 years since my Mom passed away. I was talking to my sister Terri about her recently and we remarked about the fact that neither of us remember her ever getting really angry with us. Yes, she would punish us but she was able to remain remarkable calm in the middle of it. (We did think maybe that was because we were such easy kids!) I can only hope my kids have such good memories of me!
I grew up on a farm and my Mom worked hard. I remember all the canning and freezing she did. I remember all the laundry hanging on the line and the ironing that needed to be done. She had a good sense of humor, which was a good thing because my Dad loved to tease her! Most of all she loved her kids. I never heard her complain about bringing us to any activities or going herself to support us. She was always proud of us and when the grand kids arrived, I think they were even better than us! She loved spending time with her family.
Mom was only 69 when she passed away, but she was a Christian so I can be secure in the knowledge that I will see her in heaven!

Mari,
Your mom must have been pretty special alright...you and your sisters are just precious.
I do hope my kids have good memories of me too. I have some great ones of my mom. I so understand the hurt of missing your mom.
When we get to Heaven I look forward to introducing my mom to you and yours!
Mari, What a beautiful testiment to your mother and her abilities as a role model. This post made me stop and think. Sadly enough, my kids have seen me yell and get mad. But this post makes me stop and think of the example I am setting.
I am sure you are just the same, Mari! A great mom!
Thanks for sharing. I will be thinking of you and Terri and pray that fond meories will allow you to celebrate her life rather than mourn the loss.
IN prayer.
Mari,
I can't remember my mother every getting angry with us either. I don't remember her ever punishing us. We pretty much knew to behave or we'd have Dad to deal with.
It sounds like your mother was a wonderful woman and I know you miss her, but you will see her again some day.
Blessings,
Mary
that's a sweet post honoring your mom. i hope to be a kind enough woman that my kids will have nice memories of me like that. her goodness most definately still lives on through you Mari, a kind and sweet woman yourself, what a great legacy your mom has left you and your sisters.
What a nice tribute to your mother Mari. It sounds like she was a wonderful mom, you were very blessed!
Isn't it a relief to know that when a loved one passes away, and they're a christian, that we have the promise of spending eternity with them in heaven. It's such a comfort!
Mari, you are in my prayers today. I'm glad you have such great memories of your mom. I know how comforting those are.
We certainly were blessed to have her weren't we!!
You did a great job writing that post!
my prayers are with your family. both my grandmother and my mother-in-law have lost their mothers, and when they talk about them its like it was yesterday that they passed away.
i know it must be difficult, but it sounds like you were blessed to have an amazing mother.
She must have been a wonderful mother and too young to die. I know that you will see her in heaven and that is such a comforting thought.
What great memories you and your sibs have of your mother. Unless you put up a huge front I can see now where you get your attitude and humor. I'm sure your children feel the same about you.....;) Kae
So many blessings. The greatest is to know that one day you'll see her again in heaven. The memories you and your sisters have are so precious, left by a remarkable monther who demonstrated her love to her children daily.
This post reminds me of my own mother, many years ago hanging the clothes outside to dry..never complaining, but loving taking care of her family. Thank you for stiring up those memories.
"When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!".
Beautiful memories of your mom! I'm sure she smiles down on you and your family every minute:)
What a sweet memory, Mari. She sounds like a remarkable woman, and the best part is knowing that you will see her again.
I can only image what an amazing woman your Mom was, Mari. If evidenced by what I've seen in her daughters, she was AWESOME ! I loved reading your memories of her ... thanks for sharing them with us.
Now you've got me crying! I can't believe it's been 6 years already. Time does heal but it still is hard - I still miss her.
( she did put up with a lot the way we teased her, didn't she? )
Great memories, what an honor to her. Mari, She did an awesome job cause you and your sisters and your own family are so very special. She is in all of you, and she would be very proud. My mom was 72 when she passed, I was 29, I know that hurt, 20 some years ago and I still miss her:) We shall see them again, Praise God!!
Your mom sounds like an incredible woman and I have no doubt your kids will look back with especially good memories of you too!
