Thanksgiving is done

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving day. I had to work this year and so did Heather. It was different for Bob as he was the only one home. He was invited to his brothers house and we stopped in after we were done working at 3:00.
We heard from Andy this afternoon. He had a nice day today. The officers dressed in their dress uniforms and served them dinner. He said it was a nice dinner and they were treated well. He has a 4 day "gold pass" until Monday evening, which means he doesn't have to report for anything and can leave base if he likes. He said he is catching up on sleep and relaxing. There are quite a few other guys still there so he isn't alone.
He just found out where he will be going when he is done training. He will be heading to Korea in May. I think he will be there for about a year. For now we are looking forward to him coming home for Christmas. He will have 2 weeks off at that time and we can't wait to see him again.
That's all my news for now. If you are shopping tomorrow - good luck!

I didn't like your suggestions so much about the over eating, but that's ok, I'm sure my turn for working on holidays will come soon..

I miss Thanksgiving living here ! It's not celebrated in Australia ( no question as to why ... it's obviously a very American holiday !! ) When we first moved here I used to try and do a Thanksgiving dinner but you know, it's summer time here and cooking a Turkey in the summer heat is AWFUL !! I should make some Thanksgiving traditions of my own probably but it makes me a bit too sad !! Oh well ... maybe I'll think on it and come up with something for next year. This year, the kids and I had KFC for dinner !!! YUCK !

I was wondering if that was a picture of your table? I was impressed. Sorry you had to work, but thankful for ones like you who care for our elderly.

Since my kids aren't coming home for Christmas I will help you count the days until Andy comes home. I am sooooo happy that you will have some time with him.

Hope you guys had good Thanksgiving. I was actually off this year and cooked dinner. At least with you working you didn't have to cook a big spread. Happy for you that you heard from Andy

Mari,

What a blessing that your son will be home for Christmas. I thank God for sons like yours. Because of men with his courage and love of our country, my babies are living in a safe America.

Happy Turkey Day!

Thanks Mari for all your sweet comments. I am starting to get a bit better, still some congestion, so my head and ears still feel funny, but I'm getting there. Yes my son does suddenly look older, I noticed it too, super rapid, he's also sprouted like anything!
