Mothers Day

Hope you all had a nice day on Sunday. I had to work during the day, and we had a nice day there. We had lots of visitors and a Mothers Day tea. All the ladies got a flower and they enjoyed themselves.
After I got home from work, I got a call from Andy who was having a relaxing day in Kentucky. Bob, Heather and I then went to Laura's house for supper.
We had a good supper and of course, we all enjoyed seeing Alaina!

Being Mom

Have you seen The Skit Guys? They are Christian comedians and I always enjoy them. I'm sure you will enjoy this video as much as I did.

Mother's Day is coming...

So Sunday is Mother's Day and I bet a lot of you Mom's have received some fun things from your kids in years past. I thought I would show you a few of the things I've saved. These are things my kids gave me when they were young, and they were so proud to be giving them to me.
Of course, I loved them all!

This bowl came from Andy. He made it in second grade. I still have it on my dresser, and I use it for my pens and name badge for work.

This is a necklace that Heather made for me when she was 8. I put the quarter in the picture so you could see the size of it. :)

Laura made these earrings when she was 9. Again I added the quarter so you could see the size. She told me they were for me to wear to church, so I did - then I told her they really went better with jeans, for things like her ball games, and she was good with that. :)

This is a Build-A-Bear that all three kids did for me when they were a little older.
She's a nurse bear, wearing scrubs and a stethoscope. She even has on Sketcher brand shoes, which is what I always wear to work. She has something special though, that you can't see.
It's a sound button in her hand. The kids each recorded a section of a phrase from a book I used to read to them, and I love that I have their voices on it. The phrase is:
"I love you forever" (Laura)
"I'll like you for always" (Heather)
"As long as I'm living" (Andy)
"My Mommy you'll be." (all three together)

It's fun looking at these things and remembering those days when they were young. I'm so blessed to be their Mom!

Happy Mother's Day

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom

Being a Mother

Somebody said it takes about 6 weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby
That somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "normal" is history.

That somebody never rode in a care driven by a teenager with a drivers permit.

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother your child will "turn out good".
That somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.
