A Day in my Life - April

It's April!  I must admit that I'm glad to see it.  March was not a nice month in Michigan; so much wind and too much snow for me along with rain and tornadoes.  North of us, they are dealing with the effects of a terrible ice storm that has people still without electricity a week after the storm. There are so many trees down it looks like a hurricane went through. So, in comparison to that, I shouldn't complain about our weather.  I am looking forward to it warming up and the spring flowers blooming!
Here's how the first day of April went for me.

As usual, I started my day with a walk on the treadmill.

After getting ready for the day, I had yogurt and fruit for breakfast and spent some time reading my daily portion of The Bible in One Year by John MacArthur.  This day had a portion of Deuteronomy, Psalms, Proverbs and Luke.  I'm enjoying reading through the Bible this way.

I had lots of cleaning tasks I wanted to get done this morning.

I started by putting sheets in the wash.

Then I cleaned the main bathroom and the tub.

I wiped down the stove and microwave.

and then I cleaned the refrigerator.

These are a few of my favorite cleaning products.  (Not getting paid for this, just passing it on in case you could use it). The Pink Stuff works well on the stove top and counters.  I have a Stainless Steel refrigerator, stove and dishwasher, and this Stainless Steel cleansor and polisher wipes off so easily, leaving no fingerprints or smudges behind!

When this was done, so was the laundry and then it was time for a lunch break.

After lunch I tried something I'd read about.  I found instructions to use your air dryer to dehydrate bananas.  It looked simple but it really wasn't.  You were supposed to flip them halfway through but they got really sticky. When they were done, they were just ok.  It's not something I'm doing again.  But, you don't know unless you try, right?

I spent some time in the afternoon working on these.  Three older men (91, 92, and 94) from the community made 2,700 of these little cars for our Samaritans purse, Christmas boxes for kids. This is the same thing we braid the jump ropes for that I've mentioned in the past.
These cars are oiled to protect the wood, and each car needs to be put in a zip-loc bag so it can go into the Christmas box.  A bunch of us brought home containers with 200 cars in to start packaging them.

Aren't they cute?  Some little kids will be thrilled to get them.
I got 100 of them bagged before I had to stop.

I left the house around 3 pm to pick up an old friend from the office I worked at.  The Director of Nursing there is retiring and they were having a retirement party for her at 4.
I had a great time seeing some of the doctors and a bunch of the nurses I used to work with.  I was talking so much that I forgot to take any pictures!

I got back home around 6.  Bob and I had leftover chili for supper.

After supper, he had me come outside to see these miniature daffodils which just started blooming!

We had a quiet, relaxing evening.  We watched a show that's new to us called The Repair Shop.  My friend Terri from Your Friend from Florida, told me about it.  It's a British show where people bring in things that are treasures to them because of their sentimental value, and the people from the shop fix them.  It's such a heartwarming show and watching it just makes you feel good.  It was a good way to end a good day!

P.S. Mari, I love those little hand-made cars for the Operation Christmas Child boxes. It's so nice that you could help get them bagged up and ready to go. I hope you have a great week!

I like this day in your life - you were a busy gal! I know what you mean about being happy that it is April. March was too long for me.
I have made things that I would never make again either. My granddaughter was telling me about pink - is it really that good?

I am exausted from your working day. I do all these things but do them on different days. I make a list and then draw a line, it takes me a week to get done what you did before noon and I used to do that too. I like those cars and the kids will love them. I would even enjoyed zooming one a few times.. such great items for the boxes.

Those little cars the gentlemen made are absolutely adorable! They are also a perfect example that age is just a number! May God bless those men.

Goodness! Maybe if you sprinkled a little sugar & cinnamon on the banana chips?
I love the sweet toy cars! How kind of those gentlemen to do that!
Love the flowers...

What a very special blessing these little cars will be for som many children..this is wonderful!!! I admire those who work so hard for this cause. You had yourself a full day, but doesn't it feel great when you are able to get so much accomplished? Those are cute daffodils and their color is so bright...beautiful. I know you had a fun time catching up with your past co-workers. Girl, you amaze me with all that you do...have a happy Monday

Whew !!! I'm pooped from just reading your day. You sure got a lot done. I'm guilty of not doing most of the things you did. Kind of lazy this Monday morning. It rained all night and now its just gray and dull and a bit on the chilly side.
Oh those toy cars are wonderful. The elderly men did one beautiful job. The kids that receive them in their boxes will be thrilled. What a wonderful project.
How nice to end your day with a really "feel-good" tv show.

Hi Mari, I enjoyed your post! I am going to check out that stainless steal cleaner. That is nice how those men have made the cars for the Operation Christmas Child boxes. I am reading the Bible in the year with the Bible Recap. Tonight, I go to our Women's Bible study, and we are studying the names of God. Have a great week!

Love those cute little cars. Kids will love them!!
I don't have any stainless steel in my house.
I clean mostly with vinegar!

Sounds like a perfect day! Those little cars are too cute! I'm glad to see March go but so far April is not being very springy! But I agree, we could have it much worse like those poor people up north! So many trees destroyed!

Well we had snow and rain again this afternoon. It was coming down so heavy the ground was white again. UGH Will it ever end? Those lil cars are so adorable and it is amazing they were made by those young gentlemen. A nice daffodil...hope my tulips did not freeze. Oh no on the bananas, but so true that you never know unless you try. Janice

I am glad it's April, too, of course that is just starting our Spring weather of severe storms, tornadoes and hurricane force winds. It is Oklahoma, after all. LoL. Still glad to have sunshine! I love those little cars! Very talented gentlemen and for such a good cause! Thanks for the recommendations for the cleaning stuff. I have a stainless fridge and it always looks horrible. I will be trying this spray!

Grace & Peace,
Pam

I know that show it is also programmed in France. I am glad your weather improves, here we will have the next week with rain, so I am in my recliner outside with Bandit at the moment taking some fresh air.
The little cars are very cute!
( to answer your question my Birthday is on the 12th of April I will be 69 already!) 😂

Looks like a full fun filled day! Family fun is always good. I see the shelve thingy between the washer and dryer, I looked at one of them but I did not wish to spend that kind of money, so, thoughts are to make something...lol. Just gotta make the time for that.

You had a busy day! I've started walking on the treadmill and stretching early in the day, too. I find that when I start the day that way I actually get it done!
