I always share how the first day of the month went for me, and now I'm getting around to it. This month, the first day fell on my day off. Here's how the day went.
I knew this was going to be a busy day in the kitchen. Before I started there, I threw in a load of laundry. Then I headed for the kitchen. Some ladies at church were planning a day of making freezer meals, so they would be available when people needed them.
I was going to be at work on that day, but had volunteered to help with some prep work ahead of time.
While the bread was baking, I did some vacuuming and cleaned the bathrooms.
Next up was making this Toffee Apple Dip to bring to work the next day. 2 of my fellow nurses had a birthday and we were bringing treats to celebrate. This dip is perfect in the fall with crisp apples.
We also saw this flock of turkeys run through the back yard. I only captured one on the camera before they ran off.
It was feeling pretty nice out, so Bob and I took a little time to enjoy it on the porch.
We had to run to town to pick up a prescription. I talked Bob into taking the back roads home to see some Fall beauty.
The corn is ready for the harvest. When we got home, it was time for supper. We had this Chicken Taco Soup that was ready in the crockpot. It's one of my favorites!
After supper, I finished my grocery list and we had a quiet evening. It was a busy, but really good day!
You had me so tired with all that work! How nice you made all of that for church. The toffee dip looked delish. Can't have any now. Your home looks like it is in a peaceful setting - nice you and hubs can relax on your porch. Love the red leaf.
ReplyDeleteWhat a busy day. I love your kitchen! And you keep it so neat. Now I am so curious about your dining room project. Your porch really looks like fall, and I have never seen brickwork like the bottom of your pillar! It is so fancy!
ReplyDeleteHi Mari. Sounds like you had a really nice October 1. You have a lovely yard, and I love to see pictures of it. So glad you are having a nice fall. Have a good week. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteI like all of the pictures, especially the creek and the barn and the soup and turkeys...ALL of them! I definitely need to look up the recipe for the apple dip. Looks delicious! You have a very busy life but I like that you take time to enjoy the outdoors and go for a drive. Barn chasing is my favorite thing to do!
ReplyDeleteYou were a busy little beaver on your day off. The back roads are always a favorite of mine too. Wish sometimes I lived on a farm with an old bard and corn crib. Janice
ReplyDeleteWaving to Bob. What a nice day you had, smiles.
ReplyDeleteI need to come eat in your kitchen.

That old barn shot is fabulous. I don't know why but it just sends me when light shows through from the other side, through windows looking onto other windows, or in this case, missing boards, hahaha! That soup looks scrumptious and so do the pumpkin loaves! And your front porch is always so charming and inviting. I see me sitting there, with leaves falling! Chop chop! Get my bedroom ready, hahahaha ! I wish *sob* xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou really accomplished a lot on your day off! I love your church's meal ministry. We tried that a few times at our church but it didn't work for a variety of reasons. I always enjoyed taking dinners to families with a new baby. The master plan was six dinners delivered ready to eat or frozen, the mom's preference. Disappointedly that fizzled out too.
ReplyDeleteYour day was a busy and productive one. I'm glad you had time to sit on the porch and enjoy the beauty around you. How nice of you and the ladies to make the freezer food. I am sure that will be greatly appreciated. I have a real fondness for driving the backroads and when I see a stream like the one in your photo I am thrilled. Something so peaceful about them. Thank you for sharing your day with us.
ReplyDeleteBack roads are always the best!! Your taco soup looks delicious! A nice day, indeed!! xo
ReplyDeleteWow - you were quite the kitchen angel that day! How lovely to help out with the plan at church and to bring for others in general. Everything you made looked and sounded so yummy! And a Fall drive is ALWAYS a good idea. 😉 I love how your porch looks decorated for Fall. So pretty! Another good day in the books. 💗
ReplyDeleteA busy day but a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteYour decorated porch looks lovely and that soup, simply delicious.
All the best Jan
You, my friend, have lots of energy! I love the backroads in your neck of the woods. So peaceful!
ReplyDeleteYou not only had a busy day in the kitchen but the rest of the day was busy too. You got quite a lot accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great day to me! Filled with some purpose AND relaxation!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lot you got accomplished. It made me tired just reading about it, haha.
ReplyDeleteLove the back of Bob's shirt.
The pictures are beautiful. (The barn and stream are my favorites.)
A wrap up of your month. So full of instant memories at your fingertips.
ReplyDeleteHi Mari, you have a lovely home and property! That is a lot of meal prep and I am sure it is all tasty too!
ReplyDeleteYou had a nice busy day. I like your garden and we don’t have wild turkey here but I saw some close to the roads when I went to visit my aunt in Connecticut.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin bread is a good treat for Fall!
