Stepping back in time...

Last week when I was at my Dad's house, I walked out back to pick some grapes.  Dad has a big pole barn, and hidden behind it is a little shed.   I had kind of forgotten that little shed but when I saw it, it brought lots of memories back!

This little shed used to be at the farm I grew up on.  When I was quite young, my Dad cleaned it out, and gave it to us kids to use as a playhouse.

One of our uncles had an appliance store, and he gave us some fake food that he used to have for display purposes.  We had a few chairs and a little table out there.  We also had some books, including a Bible.  We had such fun out there, playing house and playing school.   These are some of my good memories of a wonderful childhood.
When I was 12 we moved from the farm.  My Dad moved the shed to our new house and it was used for storage until he put up the bigger barn.  Now it's kind of sad and forgotten, but I enjoyed visiting and traveling back in time for a short time.

Great memories. I would have loved to have had my own little house like that, as a little girl.

What sweet memories of a small haven that was all yours. It's just the right size and shape, and those old silver-weathered boards have a wisdom in their sheen---what tales they could tell!

It's amazing, those wonderful moments captured in our childhood memories, and brought back by a glimpse of a small building, or climbing-tree, or simply the area around the yard where we spent all those moments in our imagination.

Lovely post.

Oh what wonderful memories. You should move it to your house for Alaina and Ruby to play in. You could do a renovation, make some curtains. Shoot I think it may even be a good hideaway for you! Love it!

That is truly a treasure! I remember how we girls were always trying to find places to play "house" around the farm. We also played "church" wherever there were steps.

What a wonderful memory! It does look kind of sad and forgotten, but the treasured memories make it shine. We had a neighbor's old chicken coop as our "clubhouse". Wasn't it fun to have had that space to call our own - no grown-ups allowed! LOL Such a special part of childhood (back then, anyway).

What sweet memories! I'm glad it was moved to the new house..and how fun to travel back in your mind to your childhood. I find myself doing that ever more often, the older I get.

Those were wonderful memories. I had several buildings on our farm I could have played in, but since I was the only one at home, it wasn't fun playing by myself. So my dog and I ran the fields and followed the sheep. One cute memory I had was when my dog wanted me to follow him, he would gently grab my arm in his mouth and pull me to where and what he wanted to do. I loved that dog so much.

Sweet of your dad to give you kids such a great little play house.
Good times, it sounds like :)

Love those days, when a little imagination was all it took to entertain us as kids!

That was always my dream to have a playhouse. So when my kids were young I made sure they had one. The only thing is, my dream was not their dream :(
I LOVE your little playhouse.

So fun! I was just thinking the other day about the time we went on an adventure and found the old area where you used to find fossils.
