A man, a rake, a beach...

Meet Andre Amador.
He's an artist and his medium is a sandy beach.
His artwork is intricate, but can exceed 100,000 square feet.
He uses a rake to create art that will disappear when the tide comes in.

Here he is, working on a beach in California.

He uses a rope as a guide to lay out these geometric patterns.

He rakes up sand at low tide, to create contrasting sand colors.

Sometimes he helps people propose.

He says it usually takes a few hours to create his sand paintings.

Once the tide comes back in, they are gone forever.

  1. That is really amazing, isn't it? Beautiful and really a talent to be able to envision that and then create it. I wonder if he's responsible for crop circles, too! haha.

  3. He is a gifted and original artist, and how touching that his art lasts but a few hours, til the sea covers it.

  13. Hi Mari! I have never heard of this artist, but I love what he is doing here! I wonder why he creates something that won't last...I'm sure he must have his reasons.

I'm going to have my husband take a look at your post later. He's going to love this :0
