There's still snow, but it's almost gone in many places. This is what it looks like along the wooded roads - some snow and lots of standing water.
This is our front yard. It's quite shaded so a lot of snow remains. It looks so ugly this time of year. As the snow melts, what's left looks dirtier all the time. Our little glass globe came off the hanger during the winter, but thankfully it didn't break. This is a huge improvement - for much of the winter this whole hanger was under snow. We couldn't even see the black ball on top!
Although we have no flowers poking through the ground yet, I think it's safe to say that Spring has arrived!
That's really good progress! It won't be long now. I remember the dirty-snow days from when I lived in snowier places and it was always such a relief when it finally got washed away.
ReplyDeleteWell I've moaned on about the rain we've had and we are again now but I'm thankful we didn't have any snow at all this year. As beautiful as it is, it really is pain, especially as my older daughter is a relatively new driver and would have been driving herself to school on icy roads etc.
ReplyDeleteI hope your bush makes it! We also have a small conifer that has struggled in the wind and doesn't look too healthy at all.
We have a couple of tulips breaking through the ground. I do agree with you that the ground looks pretty ugly right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see that your snow is almost gone. It's been cloudy and cold here, I'm really looking forward to warmer days. Take Care!
ReplyDeleteThank goodness most of that snow is gone, now! You are right, though, that is always looks so dirty as it melts. Makes Spring feel even better! Wishing you a good week!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome news. I am so hoping that we will not see anymore snow this season, lol. Blessings (now we enter the rainy season)
ReplyDeleteOf course our Spring is coming along a bit ahead of yours, but everything is still quite brown. My flowers have poked through, but no blooms yet.
ReplyDeleteMany times the past few weeks I have thought about the similarity of waiting for Spring and the waiting for the Messiah. Or even the many dark centuries before the beginning of the Reformation. When all there is is Hope, and even that seems hard to hang onto. Just my brain and the way it wanders and wonders, haha!
i didn't even think about standing water/flooding as all that snow melts!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hard winter it was, so glad spring is coming for you.
ReplyDeleteYou have snow, and I had 80 degrees last Thursday... ;-)
ReplyDelete"If we had no winter, spring would not be so pleasant." Anna Bradstreet. I love that thought. It gives us a good word to think on. Finally, our grass is GREEN. We had two inches of rain and a river running down our backyard. We are beginning to see life all around. I trust that this weekend, you will see warmer temps.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Almost time for us to come home!! We said we were waiting for the snow to melt!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your snow is melting. We still don't have anything coming up here yet but I'd say spring has finally arrived here as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd say that's a vast improvement. I hope y'all have a perfectly lovely summer leading into your always-stunning fall season.
