Testing Pinterest

We have Christmas stockings for everyone in the family.  They hang on a shelf because we don't have a fireplace.  With the addition of Alaina to the family, there are now 7 stockings, which makes for a lot of stocking holders.
So, when I saw an idea on Pinterest, about hanging numerous stockings using only a few holders I was interested.  They said to place two stocking holders on the shelf or mantle, and then lay a small curtain rod into it.  You can then slide as many stockings as needed onto the rod.

Here's a close up of the rod setting in my stocking holder.

Another idea I pinned was to label the stockings by taking a wooden letter and painting it silver or gold, and tying it to the stocking.  I found letters at Hobby Lobby that were very reasonably priced, and I spray painted them silver.

Here's the finished product; 7 stockings hung and labeled with everyone's first initial.
I think these were both great Pinterest ideas!

The curtain rod idea is very clever and then I saw your silver letters and how your red stockings make a lovely statement.

What great ideas! The silver letters are also good. I hadn't thought about using a curtain rod although I will be using a clothesline and decorating with garland for all of the ornaments this year. We have a kitten that I have a feeling is going to tear up all of our special ornaments so we'll decorate the tree with ornaments that aren't as special and then use the clothesline to hang the others out of her reach. How exciting to see Christmas through Alaina's eyes!

They look great! I love the silver letters. Hobby lobby is such a cool store and I think better value than Michaels.

All these bloggers with their Christmas decorations up now! No pressure! :D

I am a certifiable Pinterest addict. This was one of their best ideas! My mantle is rock or cement or some sort of material that you can't put a nail into, and this would work really well since I already have those stocking holders.
Can you rearrange the letter and spell something? LOL!

That's a great idea!
And your presentation is so pretty! That was a good idea, to use a black rod against the black shelf.

This is FABULOUS!!!! Believe it or not, I have a fireplace but NO MANTEL. Only TG and I have stockings and their holders are on bookshelves. But this is a wonderful idea that could have so many uses! Good job, Mari.

What a MARVELOUS idea!!!

The letter to identify the stockings wouldn't work for us. I have 4 grands, and all 4 names start with the letter T (thus, I call them my Ts). ;-)
