Carnival!

Something the residents at our nursing home look forward to every year is our Carnival. We have one every August, with different activities each year. One thing that stays the same is that family and friends are invited to join. Seeing their grand children and great grandchildren having fun is a big part of the joy of the day.
Here's a few things we did this year:

We had old cars to look at. They always like to see things they remember from the past.

This year we had old tractors too. This is a farming community and many of the men remember using these tractors.

Out in the parking lot, checking things out!

What's a carnival without clowns? We had two clowns that were really good with balloons. The ladies all got balloon flowers.

Of course, there were Carnival games too. The kids and some residents enjoyed these.
It was a fun day - and everyone was tired that night!

It sounds like a big day for everyone. What a wonderful idea. I'll bet the men, especially, loved those cars.

A great way to remind these dear folks of earlier times. I know they enjoyed all the festivities and the weather looks perfect.

Nothing like memories of the past relived. I love those balloon wrist flowers!
My husband grew up in the city but still loves to see the old tractors, and I believe we once owned one of those old cars! LOL!

What a treat for those residents, and for the visitors too.

I commend you on making their day such an interesting one. Some LTC facilities just don't make that effort. Blessings to you - Marsha

What joy this post brings to my heart. I love the whole concept that the aged are NOT ignored and given something like this for a day of memories and fun...fun for the entire families.

That takes work, but I'm sure their smiles and general happiness are more than worth it.
A favorite part of the Pumpkin Festival here, is the tractor exhibit. Nostalgia big time!
So heart-warming to see a place caring so much about the residents.
