Kentucky/Tennessee Barns

You probably know that I love barns. When we travel, I always see neat barns that I want to take pictures of and I probably drive Bob crazy, telling him "Look at that barn over there!"
So, being the good husband he is, one morning while we were waiting for Andy to get done with his daily de-briefing, he took me out driving to look for barns.
It can be hard because you can't always stop and you can't get real close but I had fun trying to get pictures of the ones we found.

We noticed lots of black barns in Kentucky

This barn was on the way to Andy's base so we saw it every day. I like the vines growing on it and the two shades of red.

This one is in such bad shape that I don't think the plastic will help much!

I like the shape and the peak on this one.

Another one that's barely standing.

And this is another one we passed every day. Such a beautiful, well kept place!

  1. I love barns too. We just don't have many in GA. You just have to link up with Tricia's Barn Charm each week. People from all over the world link up their barn pictures. You can google "barn charm meme" to find Tricia's blog.

  3. Barns are works of art. When we went on the Worlds longest Garage Sale starting in Michigan and ending in Alabama, there were so many barns I wanted to snap a picture of, but it wasn't always convenient. It seemed like every time I was ready to snap a picture something go in my way.
    You did a great job!

  5. I'm really loving the black ones! You just don't see those in Ohio. Makes me curious about the colors and why they seem regional. What a fun hobby of yours and we get to enjoy it.

  7. How did I miss all your previous posts? It was great to catch up on everything - you've got wonderful photos with each post! Thanks for sharing them. I love seeing barns out in the fields. I do wonder why the owners don't tear down those that look they should have come falling down on their own in the last windstorm! Always think, "Someone is going get hurt in there when that crashes!"

  10. What great photos of the old barns.
I have always how some of those are still standing, they look like a brisk wind would take them down. It just goes to show that back in the good ole days things were better made.

  13. As always, beautiful photos Mari. We don't have as many barns around here as we used to. I do have friends that converted a barn into their home. A lot of work, and it is lovely.

  17. Love the barns too! Interesting how they are in different states!

I am sure Bob gets a kick out of you when you say, "Look at that Barn over there". He might think that you should have a barn and have some animals.
