I have kind of a fascination with barns.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I grew up on a farm, and have good memories of playing in the hayloft, and going out to see my Dad when he was working out there.
Maybe it's the architecture so many of them have.
Maybe it's the history they hold!
I think it's all of the above. I love to drive down country roads and take pictures of the barns I find.

Here is one I showed you recently. It's in great condition and has a fresh coat of paint.
And here are a few others:
And here are a few others:
These ones are showing their years. They all have some wear and tear, some more than others. The paint is worn, some boards are loose. Some are falling down.
However, I like them best! They have character, that is sometimes covered up in the freshly painted barns.
It makes me think about the older people I take care of. I love their character. I think their wrinkles and gray hair are beautiful. They have history too!

what is sad to see is an abandoned farm house and barn that have collasped.
I LOVE old barns too. I love to look at pics of them! Great post!
Same here - love those old barns! Sometimes I feel like an old barn and sure hope someone loves me - just the way I am! Thanks for the lovely photos Mari!
This is a great post! Love the barns, love old people and love how everything and everyone has character! Just like us!
Love barns! Looking forward to seeing lots in a few weeks :)
They have pole buildings here, clad in metal, or made of blocks. Usually a flat roof. To me, not very interesting. Very utilitarian and boring.
I guess it really depends on what you grow up with.
It has made me wonder, though: What kind of "barns" there are around the world?
Oh Mari...a wonderful collection of photos. I too love barns. I remember my grandparents' HUGE barn and all the time I spent in it with the cows and lambs and horses...oh, and not to forget the hay mow!!
Thanks for visiting with me yesterday. Always love having your company.
My Tuesday Post:
A new Cat
Hope your day is treating you well.
I always enoy youor barn pictures!!
I share your fascination, Mari....These are beautiful -- each in their own way.
I enjoyed your post today. Those old buildings certainly do have a story to tell.
Just magnificent photos sweetie. The old barn in the forth pic is almost identical to the one I played and worked in as a young chicklett.
I always enjoy the 'old barn' photos.
God bless and have glorious day!
BTW...I'm havin' a Happy Easter giveaway over at my place, ya'll come!!! :o)
LOVE!
old barns have so much character.
thanks for sharing the barns around your area. I love seeing them.
Great shots! I love the last one the best, I don't know why but I do.
I love the snow covered barn the best!
I love old barns too! And if they are on deserted property, I like to look inside ... We have three old barns here with shelters built on the sides that my husband has filled with stuff (mostly junk).. I see people wander over to the barns when they visit.. they never go under the shelters, but they will stand and stare for awhile. Sometimes, I pretend I'm a visitor and just hang out to see what they are seeing...that stuff that my husband saves is very interesting...LOL
What great shots of the old barns.
I to love taking photos of them and it makes you wonder about its history.
I also like driving through small towns and finding the old churches.
Have a Happy Easter.
You have found a lot of good barns to photograph. It is sad to see their time of use is over.
It makes me happy to see barns in good repair as in your first photo. Sadly, I believe the large wooden barns are disappearing. Great photos, Mari. :)
Love the barns! I never made the connection between liking barns and working with the elderly but I like it!
Very cool pictures!
