The return of winter

I make no secret of the fact that I am not a huge fan of winter. As a matter of fact, if it wasn't so pretty I would say it was pretty much worthless.
So, I'm always counting down the days to Spring. That being said, I was thrilled last week when this happened:

We had a thaw! The temperature reached 50, the icicles melted and so did much of the snow!
Spring was on the way. :)
I knew that it wouldn't last though. It's still February and this is Michigan.
However, that doesn't mean I'm happy about what is happening now.

When I left for work this morning there was no snow on the roads, and very little anywhere else. It started snowing around one this afternoon. When I came home at 3:30 this is what our road looked like:

It was a slippery ride home!

Here's the view from our living room.

The trees in the side yard are getting loaded down with snow.
Tonight the snow is supposed to change over to freezing rain. It could be a nasty ride in to work tomorrow!

  2. Oh, I am so sorry that you are covered in the white stuff again.....I am sure we will be too before it's over.
It will just make us all the more thankful when spring does get here....

Please be careful on those roads.....

It's always amazing to think of the difference between your weather and ours.

  5. Your snow pictures are so beautiful. It would be a lot more enjoyable if you didn't have to drive in it. Oh to be young again and spend the day on a sled. Having no cares other than getting those clothes dry for the next day.
I think that Halle must LOVE snow.

  7. The new white stuff made the old dirty white/brown stuff look pretty again. I am ready for Spring though. It was so weird how it just started and was Bam all at once. Not a gradual thing this time. Be careful going to work tomorrow.

  8. Oh my, I think I would get very tired of all that snow, pretty as it is. If we get one good snowstorm a winter we feel lucky.

  9. I, too, hate driving in this stuff! Your pictures are lovely and postcard pretty! I just saw one on another blog that looked just like your slippery ride home photo. What was different though, was someone walking along the road with a bright rainbow umbrella smack dab in the middle of the photo! That somehow made it fun!

    Be safe on the roads!!

  10. Mari, are you used to it or is it something that you never get used to? I'd probably panic once I realized I couldn't see the lines in the road. It's pretty but when I'm indoors by a fireplace.

  21. We never did get the freezing rain or sleet. We also never did get the additional snow today or tonight. Once it stopped overnight it was done (ours didn't start until about maybe 3), but we ended up with around 8 inches. One of the kids said today they were done with the snow and ready for spring now too!

  22. I hate to tell you that it's been unusually warm here. One week it was 15 below and the next it was in the 60's! Lovin' it.
