Sometimes we wonder
"What did I do to deserve this?" or "why is God letting this happen to me?"
This is one of the best explanations I've seen.
A daughter is telling her Mom how everything is going wrong. She's failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her and her best friend is moving away.
Meanwhile, her Mom is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack. The daughter replies "yes, I love your cake".
"Here, have some cooking oil", her Mom offers.
"Yuck", says the daughter.
"How about a few raw eggs?"
"Gross, Mom!"
"Would you like some flour then? Or maybe some baking soda?"
"Mom! Those things are all disgusting!"
The Mother replies; "Yes, they all seem bad by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a delicious cake!"
God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and know that He is able to make them into something wonderful.

ReplyDeletethat andrae crouch song comes to mind ... "I thank God for the mountains, and I thank Him for the valleys, I thank Him for the storms He brought me through.
ReplyDeleteFor if I'd never had a problem,
I wouldn't know God could solve them, I'd never know what faith in God could do ..."
This is such a good post Mari. The ingredients of our life taken apart will not look so good, or taste so good... but like you said in this post... everything put together comes up with something delicious and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLoved this, Mari.
