Brrrrr!

We have had a nice long Fall, with lots of nice sunny days and no snow. However, I'm afraid Winter has made it's way to West Michigan.
This past week we had our first snow of the season and it wasn't just a little dusting. We got about 5 inches and we got more this weekend. I'm having a harder time than usual dealing with this, mainly because it's been so windy and cold.
I should be grateful though. Our neighbors, just 10-15 minutes from us had a huge snowstorm over the last 24 hours. They got from 16-20 inches! That's how things work when you live near Lake Michigan.
Aside from the cold, I do have to admit that the snow is pretty and it does add to the Christmas spirit. Here's a few pictures of our yard in the snow.

This was taken in our back yard on Saturday.

I don't plan to sit on this bench in the near future!

As I was walking around the yard, I was surprised to see this last little bloom, hanging on in the snow.

I think red berries against the snow are so pretty!

Our grasses were collecting snow on their little fronds. So pretty!

Love the little snowflakes you have floating across your blog - a few others have them too! So pretty! Those are lovely photos! My fav - the red berries, the grasses, the bench, that flower hanging on, that stately tree and that frigid snowman! Oh, guess I like them all!

These pictures are beautiful.....they could be cards.
Please stay warm; I think we all have a cold winter ahead of us.....It's really cold here in NC too....

Ewwwwwwwwwww. I saw on the weather channel that MI was getting snow and I thought of you right away. Looks like a heavy 'lake effect' wet snow too. Be careful out there, driving!!! And stay warm and dry...indoors. LOL

Such beauty in the photos! Kinda wish we only had to look at the pretty photos and not actually get out in that snow :)

You always take the prettiest pictures. It would be hard to pick a favorite, they are all wonderful....considering the subject! LOL!
No snow here yet. Today the sky is bright blue, but they are predicting snow in the next week. Stay warm!!

It has been so cold here but no snow yet, but the weather man says we could get some late in the week.
Your photos are beautiful but I don't like that white stuff in real life.
I think that as I age each year I hate it more all the time.
Stay warm.
Hugs

I am hoping for snow this year, we don't get it very often. How did you get it to "snow" on your blog?

Your backyard is pretty no matter what the season. I like your little snowman with the sign. So cute! The winds are not so strong today in our neighborhood but they do blow from time to time. So far, no snow. Stay warm!

I really liked those light bulb ornaments. They all look like primitive wood carvings from the mountains of Kentucky.

I also liked the post today. It is cold here and your photos do not make it look any warmer there. We have about the same amount of snow.

Love seeing your snow-covered yard! It's so pretty - especially the bench! I would love to get snow here, but that doesn't happen often; we're a little too far south. The few snows we've had were magical to me!

Your husband is so very talented and creative. And I loved reading about your special birthday.

Hope you enjoy this advent season!

Simply beautiful! I love watching snow from a snuggly vantage point indoors, preferably by a fire! We've had no snow and it's not likely we will, but it's been plenty cold here too! We're not used to nighttime lows of barely-above-20! I think it's supposed to warm up a few degrees in the coming week. Stay warm and safe, my friend!

Beautiful pictures! We're shivering down here, too. And we got about the same amount as you. The boys love it though!

You were brave to get out and take pictures! They're worth the cold feet and nose though. I especially love the last two and the one of the bench. I totally agree about red berries against snow - always a favorite winter sight for me.

Okay, am I going crazy, or does it look like snowflakes are falling on all your snow pictures???

The pictures are so pretty Mari... and the little snowflakes floating on the screen are lovely too.

I must try the peppermint cookies you shared on your blog...
