Pictures of the week

I have a few random pictures from the last week to share with you.

A friend at church caught me before church last Sunday and told me to find her after church.  When I did, she gave me this pretty little bouquet.  These flowers are Lisianthus. They open white and get a darker shade of pink every day.  I've been enjoying them all week.

Out in the yard, the roses are blooming.

And so are the lilies!
I'm enjoying summer and all the flowers around me!

And this wasn't so fun.   My sister Cheri and I had gone to check on my Dad Saturday morning.   We were driving home, not far from home when we suddenly saw a cloud of dust and smoke ahead of us.  And then saw a vehicle overturned and another one smashed on the side.  Cheri called 911 and I went to make sure people were ok.

The guy driving this car said he was ok, but he hit his head and already was developing a goose egg.  He was more concerned about the other driver.

The other vehicle was a mail truck.  The driver was in shock, said her shoulder hurt, but seemed to be ok.  There was mail and packages all over the road.  It's a busy road so by this time, other cars were stopped, people were helping pick up the mail, and I ended up helping direct traffic.
Apparently, the mail truck was stopped to turn left, and the other driver never saw her at the top of the hill and drove right into her.
Soon the fire trucks arrived, and the ambulance.  We left them checking the drivers over and headed home.  That was an adrenaline rush.  I'm sure they are both going to be very sore, but thankfully seemed to have no serious injuries.

  1. Wow, what an awful thing to pass. I'm sure you were their angel to check on them, and they knew medics would soon be there. This Lisianthus is gorgeous! I have never heard of them, or seen any. what a special gift. Your lily is such a beautiful, rich color!

  2. Lovely flower! That is nice how you helped out. I feel for the postal driver, being a retired postal worker. Now she has to file a report and they don't make it easy.

  3. Wow, that was a pretty bad accident. Praise God no one was hurt - or worse. So glad you were there to help and give comfort. I love the pictures of your flowers. The lily is especially beautiful. I hope that everyone involved in the accident heals up and that you have a good week.

  6. Oh wow! That must have been scary for the postal worker! I'm glad no one was seriously hurt! We saw an accident on I-96 coming home from Detroit a few weeks ago. One car was completely upside down in the middle of the expressway! Doesn't look like anyone was hurt though but still..how scary would that be? Beautiful flower by the way!

  7. So glad it was you that was able to help those people and check on them. The little flower from your friend is so pretty and how interesting it starts out white and then turns dark pink.

  8. The flowers are beautiful! I have a Geranium that looks white when it buds and first opens up, then it turns a pale pink and the longer it blooms the darker the shade of pink becomes. It's one that I have kept over winter for a few years now and I love it when it opens up each spring.

Talk about the providence of God! Having you and Cheri there right after this accident occured was truly of the Lord. You and your family are such caring people. And I am glad you were there.

  9. Flowers are beautiful...

What an adrenalin rush for sure. Sure it was good to have a nurse on the scene.

And glad others stopped and help pick up mail, etc.

And you directed traffic!!!!!!! A very valuable act, as gawking people could cause more accidents.

    Wheeeeewwwwww.....

Nice to know others stopped to help also.

I've never heard of Lisianthus before. It is beautiful and unusual that it changes color. Amazing.

  12. Wow, he must have hit that mail truck at a high speed to knock it over. Yep, I'd say they will both be sore and the bruises will start appearing. It's always concerning when you see an accident. Glad you were there to help -

    Your flowers are pretty.
