We had the girls overnight Friday night. It had probably been a month, because of parties and the busyness of the season, so we were happy to spend some time with them again.
We picked them up after supper and came home. It was a dreary, rainy day so they were wearing their boots. I was putting some things away in the kitchen and smiled when I walked past the dining room and saw this.
I actually sent this photo to Laura, with a comment about how well trained they were to line their boots up so nicely. Laura replied that this does not happen at home, :) and she also thought it might be better if the boots weren't on the good rug. True, but I still thought it was cute!
We are working on the girls room here. We have a toddler bed that is getting small, so we're trying to change the bed situation. We had ordered new twin mattresses and Bob was getting one out that night.
Bob, Alaina and Ruby each tried it out and said it was very comfortable.
The mattresses came in a box, and the box was even better than the mattress! Friday night they laid it out and laid on top of it.
The next morning they stood it up, folded it, threw blankets over it and made a "fortress".
A box and some imagination makes for lots of fun!
....and two little girls with good imaginations! They are just so cute.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun time! Good memories. Have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteThose boots are spectacular! :) Fun times.
ReplyDeleteLiam would rather play with boxes than the stuff that came in them, lol...a box can sure can lead an imagination. smiles
ReplyDeleteThey are precious...
ReplyDeleteNothing like a big box to bring out a child's imagination. One of my kids's favorite books was Christina Katerina and the Box. We still quote parts of it, we read it so much.
ReplyDeleteRemember those days, when a big box presented so many opportunities for hiding out? The ones that major appliances came in were the best. Not that I would know; we never bought any major appliances when I was a kid, haahahaa. The boots picture is DARLING. It's well documented that kids act more civilized when they're at grandma's than at home. But their training from home is still shining through! Darling girls. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the beautiful, sweet girls, Mari. And, I know they bring such joy to you and the mister. :)

Boxes are just the BEST (for kids or cats!)!! Those girls are so sweet and so cute! It is great that you can have sleep-overs often!
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Next time, forget buying new mattresses and just get them each a box. :)
ReplyDeleteI love their little boots lined up too. When we recently had friends over who have two young boys the youngest one (2) was fascinated with the mirrors in our living room. I told him to give that cute little boy in the mirror a kiss and he did...then his brother (4) got in on the act, too. Their mother wasn't quite sure what to make of me allowing this to happen. I told her it was a grandma thing. :)
I love how they lined their little boots up so cute. Poppy and I keep rubber boots on the front porch. Mine are always together and sitting up straight...but I'm always picking his up and sitting them neatly beside mine. and he is grown! You have the sweetest granddaughter. It makes me miss my two granddaughters. They both are 20 years old now. Enjoy every minute. They grow up so fast.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun post! That picture of the boots is just adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course, boxes are the best toys!
My grands love boxes. I just love their imaginations.
ReplyDeleteI love this post. The girls are soooo cute! I can see the mischief in the little one! Just like my 2nd one, my first girl, Cora. We built a fort too over the holidays. Don't you just love it! I have to do it separately because I honestly can't handle all of them at one time.
ReplyDeleteYour Granddaughters make me smile. I love the photo of the boots too, but did wonder about your lovely clean rug! Haha.
