We started by putting 1/2 cup glue in a bowl. I found purple glue with glitter in it!
Then we added 1/2 cup water and some food coloring. Ruby chose to add purple food coloring to make hers darker, and Alaina chose pink.
In a separate bowl, we mixed 1 cup water with 1 teaspoon Borax, then stirred it into the glue mix.
It quickly turns into slime. There is some water that separates out from the slime that you can get rid of, and the slime that remains just needs to be mixed well.
Here's the finished product!
Ruby with her purple slime...
And Alaina with her pink slime!
We put each one in an airtight container and they were excited to take it home with them.
That's quite a mix. Looks like the kids enjoyed it! I'll be passing this on to my 30 something daughters for their kids.
ReplyDeleteI have never made slime, but it looks so fun!! One of these times!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun!
ReplyDeleteI know the girls had fun making the slime.....what a cute idea.
ReplyDeleteThat looks fun. I saw Hobby Lobby had a whole shelf of products needed to make slime. I may fave to do that with my grands.
ReplyDeleteHa ha I bet you were pleased they took it home with them though!
ReplyDeleteSo much fun!!!!!! Sarah went through a brief slime phase!
ReplyDeleteGirl?...you are making a lifetime of memories for Ruby & Alaina!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they had fun. Hunter makes slime every time she comes over (which hasn't been much lately due to VBS and visit with her dad). She's 12 now, you know, and says it takes her mind off things. :)

Who doesn't like playing with slime? I almost want to make some just for me!! Those two are always so cute. Y'all just have too much fun, Mari!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun things you find to do with your girlies. :) It always makes me miss our grandgirls.
ReplyDeleteI love the projects you and your granddaughters share.
ReplyDeleteDidn't they turn out pretty....
ReplyDeleteMy kids love this slime. We've made it a few times over the years. I love the photo of Ruby holding it in both hands, what a big smile!
ReplyDeleteThat is very cool!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize it was this easy to make slime. I need to do this with Dagny, who is obsessed with slime, and who recently had some that went dry and un-slime-like. She was dismayed. We will do this. Thanks, Mari! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat child doesn't like slime? So fun!
ReplyDeleteMy Annie still likes to make slime. Last summer she was so into it and made many batches with her friend and they had a little "company" and sold all different kinds to friends & cousins. They made over $100! Your Cuties sure look like they love it! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh that picture of Ruby stirring it... if she's doing something messy, she's more than happy! She asks to play with it constantly, but I'm rationing her time with it since she likes to spread it all over, lol!
